Ah, what an excellent explanation of the “weaker” thing. Thanks! Well said about the main point of the passage.
ОтветитьGreat video dude!
ОтветитьThe position taken by these other brothers just really sets off warning bells in my mind concerning pride, “we drink alcohol etc so we have so much more faith than you” Personally I don’t believe Christians should drink alcohol, alcohol has ruined my wife’s families lives due to a father who drank and was a nasty piece of work. I’ve also been in full time Christian ministry for 28 years. I agree to disagree with those I still consider brothers in Christ but who believe Christians should drink alcohol.
ОтветитьI see your Superman in the background. What's your thoughts on Superman after what they did with his son?
ОтветитьLove your channel Dawg!
ОтветитьGreat video. I have never actually heard that view before so thanks for that. I used to watch that channel a bit, I quit because it all comes off as trying to seem authoritative on everything, seemingly very little room for charity which Is a problem for me.
ОтветитьI’ve never had someone argue with me about movies or music…… hah! Right….
ОтветитьLove the breakdowns. Keep the content coming!
ОтветитьI think that is not a good position on weaker/strong because when we go we see that we cause not our brother to stumble. So alcohol is a good example, am I going to cause them to drink not whether or they feel it is against the faith. If I eat the meat would I be teaching a new convert that it is ok to bring in their pagan practices into Christianity. I did hear the other video, and I lean more to their understanding I think both fall short of the intention
ОтветитьWe shouldn't judge or despise or look down on each other for our convictions, or push our convictions on others.
ОтветитьExcellent analysis of the "weaker brother". Thank you for posting! 😊
ОтветитьWhat about old RC Sproul's sermon...The tyranny of the weaker brother?...
ОтветитьI look at the weaker brother matter as a manifestation of legalism: the weaker brother wants others to live by rules he himself feels convinced he should live by. These could be big issues, or small, whether it’s alcohol, vax mandates, or government structure. The weaker blither is the one imposing rules on others in matters where Scripture is silent, or not directly written about that matter.
ОтветитьThank you brother! Excellent explanation.
ОтветитьThe idol meat was being sold in the markets, not taken/eaten at the altar of worship. The latter would most certainly be sinful to partake in because it would be part of the pagan worship ritual.
The meat Paul talks about would be the equivalent of leftover communion wine being put back in the bottle and served at lunch, which would no longer make it part of the ceremony.
Your take on the weaker brother not being the wrong brother is simply mistaken because the examples Paul uses for what a weaker brother is forbidding himself to partake of or forcing himself to do are refuted elsewhere. Paul says explicitly that we have no obligations to keep holiday and that we are free to eat meat sacrificed to idols.
