I just received mine couple days ago from Blade Hq. really wanted to like this knife but such a disappointment. Blade came very dull and uncentered. Pivot screw was also very lose. Tightened the pivot screw very lightly just until it stopped threading. Fixed the centering issue but then the blade won’t auto deploy. Sending back for a refund.
ОтветитьNot a fan of autos generally speaking, but Protech and Microtech make some good ones. I'm much more a fan of manual knives.
Regarding washers, Nylon is a great material, especially when corrosion or dirt/sand is a factor.
FWIW, Emerson is charging $250+ for a 154CM blade, horrible hardware, and nylon washers. ;)
Carried Protechs for years, still do, and never had an issue with any of them even with hard use. Microtechs, if you use them last 2 yrs at best before having to send in for refurb.
GPK is my go to unless out of stock of something I want. Great co with great people.
Keep the reviews coming man. You and yours be safe and stay healthy.
Nice. I don’t own a protech. Yet.
ОтветитьPlunge locks are incorporated into pistol safeties. They are quite robust
ОтветитьSubbed because lefty lol
ОтветитьProtech Tr3 Swat or Houge Rsk Doug Ritter knife ? I been eying them both and both about $160 ish price point .
ОтветитьDefinitely not staying home and never stopped working going in homes making sure they stay operational for families. And lates studies and statistics show how terrible for your health it is to stay home day after day and the virus is still spreading in New York with people sheltering at home just as fast. This shutdown ruining millions of healthy peoples lives and creating our own famine right here in America was one of the dumbest things in American history done to us instead of keeping the sick and elderly home. Anyways from what I’ve read in a article the only main difference between your tr3 and what the police and SEALS use is a safety lock.
ОтветитьJust got the same model in black. Have the exact same issue with the lock. About 10-20% of the time it doesn't lock out on deployment. I have to manually open it the last little bit until it clicks. The plunge button also feels sticky and too shallow. I confirmed with a friend that has one...his button sticks up about 50% more than mine. I am returning it. Poor QC from Protech.
ОтветитьProtech has perfected the heat treat on 154cm I’d much rather have that than whatever super steel some of these other companies are putting on their blades. Best believe if you’re getting 20cv on a sub $200 knife they cut corners somewhere
ОтветитьSpoken from the heart. I didn't look into your eyes and see your soul like Bush did Putin but I believe there wasn't any malice in the review. And your not alone in the steel want. Emerson won't even upgrade to CPM 154, good old non powdered 154 is his bread and butter and I get the logic. It's kicked ass for decades and it's not kickin' less ass because of newer technology... which is in the eye of the beholder type deal. I REALLY want the TR-3 or TR-4 in fish scales though. Reminds me of how Capt Americas uniform is drawn in the comics.
Great review, didn't realize the button lock was so fragile looking at lockup.
Finally someone being honest and not just glazing this thing
ОтветитьThe sharpness sucks
