I've used a trailer for bigger loads like furniture and stuff. It's surprising how much you can carry on a good trailer 🙂

Great video and best channel on YT thanks, living in a hilly area of rural Vic with a 3 and 4 year old I am riding a 26" wheel long tail electric cargo(Haz-E) bike from Vyron with two child seats on the back and a modified milk crate on the front( conveniant carrying), like you said I can only load to the handle bars in the crate or the bars bump into the load, I am saving for two cargo panniers for the back to work with the child seats and then I am sweet I reckon, I lower my seat when my kids are both on the back to lower my centre of gravity for stability but without a top heavy rear load and my seat up it is a fun ride, I am addicted to the cargo bike life now, thanks for all the bloody cool local content Gary peace .....:)

Cool cargo bikes you got there!!! Thats really nice bike collection. 😎👍 Very nice review. Btw, i used to have 1 mama-chari bike (japan-bike) that have front and rear basket, i upgraded it to mtb handlebars and put dh flatpedels... Used it for groceries/markets, etc. 😅🚴

Good overview. Thanks for sharing. After years of various cargo efforts, I found B.O.B. Yak, Yak clone or Burley COHO trailer for the win. Low, tracks well, take it off when not using it. Anything smaller can be done with rack and panniers. Smaller still? Front basket, rear basket, or rack bag.

Good ideas in the video, thanks.

I will add one point. Theres two options to the front basket, rotating w/ the fork as you have shown or mounted solidly to the headtube. W/ second option your steering is not destabilized when carrying a heavy load. My wife and I recently acquired a cargo bike with this setup and it works well. One thing I’ve noticed with this bike is the ride seems more predictable when it’s heavily loaded. I have to be a little careful riding solo without a load.

Good vid as ever mr gary, feel you communicated your points very well. Love the "political compass" of cargo bikes especially ahaha. Just curious, will bike check be making a comeback anytime soon? I gotta bike or 5 I wanna submit 😅

A front basket is the dog’s bollocks. Wald baskets are compatible with the big Surly Porteur bag.

A backpack is a weight on your body, which obviously takes its toll fatigue wise over time compared to carrying weight on the bike

Interesting rear view mirror on your Crust cargo. Could you do a top five rear mirror review? I kinda want one. Had a few moments on gravel trails in the middle of nowhere (Victoria) where some gravel creeps have been behind us for who knows how long, me and my partner talking about life and everything and more, then they're right there! 😂 Love your work Gaz!

With a stick and a piece of rope I can clamp down any backpack I already own to my pannier rack. Once you figure out how to manage the straps away from hitting the spokes you have a bunch of free bike bags.

Hi. There is another option. They sell a flat platform to go on a back rack. Then you can put two grocery bags on the platform and two panniers underneath the platform. Great video by the way.

Great video, although you skipped the classic milk crate ziptied to the rear rack
