The interviews that dick cavett did would have been better if cavett had actually been more intelligent there would have been a better flow in conversation

Churchill senior telling young Winston he was the graetest disappointment of his fathers life is truly shocking . very few of us live up to our parents expectations , but at least most parents refrain from telling their children how disappointed they felt towards us . such a sad story .

People from the later parts of the 1800s really experienced the most significant changes in their lifetimes, from horses to cars and planes, TV, radio, etc. When Richard mentions Winston being in the last British cavalry charge with a saber at full gallop, then later the atom bomb... mind blowing really.

In my view, everyone listening to this must remember RA is an actor; he makes up stories; his work/films are fiction. In contemporary language, he is a fake. He single handedly destroyed facts and manipulated reality with the film Ghandi. But, of course, we are not allowed to admit such things these days. We must believe the myth that what is on the screen in true.

Its very rare , to find an actor , who can act , direct & produce & richard Attenborough was one of those who could do it all & did it with such enthusiasm & professionalism & was honoured by his piers for all three in the uk 🇬🇧 & us 🇺🇸 one of Britain's greats , sadly no longer with us , did some of my favourite films , the great escape , the sand pebbles , 10 riddlington place , miracle on 34th street & the guinea pig ( actor ) , a bridge to far , young winston , cry freedom , chaplin , shadowlands & magic ( director , Producer ) on some ..

Such an incredible man with such an incredibly life. From having been born in a time long before modern medicin, long before computers, RADAR, SONAR, airplane travelling, nuclear power plants, man's ventures into outer space, the introduction of dinosaurs to our society, so on and so forth. It's amazing how much happened in this man's 90 years-worth of life compared to 90 years prior to his birth.

Although Churchill was in the last cavalry action [ at the Battle of Omdurman 1898 ] against Dervishes carrying pikes he could not have used a sabre as Attenborough states, since he had a permanently injured right shoulder, and accordingly used a Mauser pistol. According to his own account of the battle [ his best selling second book " The River War " ] he definitely despatched at two natives and probably three with a possibility of a fourth.

Interesting parallel too , and explain how important Princess Diana was to her son's. So much more involved. Which made a big difference , I should say for next generation Brithis Royalty. Interesting that Kathy is having issues with sending George away to such Boarding. school. The Danish Royalty has moved into a more modern approach. For Sir Chirchill to have survived such Child abuse is uncanny. But, unspoken, Prince Charles had some very unfortunate Mentors as well. Aside, I notice, and interesting, how men often have a difficult time with their Sons choices. Wonder what that is?! Why would they want a carbon copy off themselves?! Not sure. As a mother, always said , choose your Destany! But, then work hard at it. And, I will support you. And did. More than they know. At some point asked my then ex , :" Come to California ,see how well he is doing. Will do you both good.!! Of Course he hoped to visit with me. We did, all 3 over lunch. Went really well. Then, prior had promised my son, the rest off the 8 day's is your's to show your Dad a good time. Judging from pictures, they had a great time. Best thing his dad told him,:" If I was young, I would go to California too. That, really made my son's day. From then on, wish all children could have that! Ongoing. Something to think about.🤔🙏🎬🇺🇸🇩🇰🌅💙
