When is it Too Late to Plant Winter Rye

Im in zone 7b (regular old zoning map) its 40F right now on new years eve which is insane.. i had an injury and was nervous i wouldnt be able to clean up my beds and plant rye but i just did it im still outside typing with dirty hands😂 im glad i found this though im glad to know they will germinate in this weather , ive done as late as late November but in NYC we havent had real bad snow or winters in a couple of years …. My Pusswillow tree doesnt know what season it is she’ll start budding around mow then drop the buds when true frost comes in and start all over in the spring. Poor thang is confused
