Interesting collection of syndicated TV shows from yesteryear.
Ответитьyour best yet. i remember nearly all those. i must have been between 10/15. i think some of the heroes still influence me today
ОтветитьGreat job, RwD. maybe you can do more SYN intros from the 60's, 70's & 80's
ОтветитьIvanhoe reminds me of the Ajax commercial: Stronger than Dirt! And it's young, gorgeous Roger Moore.
ОтветитьOutstanding! Brought back a lot of memories. Haven't seen these in years. "26 Men" has to be one of the greatest theme songs ever.
ОтветитьFor some reason, I can remember the opening of "The Vikings" - but none of the rest of these. I assume the ones at the beginning were all made in Britain.
ОтветитьI remember 10 of these shows with Ivanhoe being one of my favourites! Thanks for the memories!
ОтветитьMost of these series were produced for only one season (usually 39 episodes), and were repeated for years on local stations. In the case of "DATELINE EUROPE", that was a "repackaged" title for the first two seasons of producer Sheldon Reynolds' "FOREIGN INTRIGUE" (there were so many cast changes over four seasons of production, the show was reissued as three separate series- "DATELINE EUROPE" featured the original star, Jerome Thor).
ОтветитьDuring the '50s, most local stations had a LOT of time to fill on their prime-time schedules, 'pettersendawn' (before the advent of pre-1949 "old movies" provided by major studios and syndicators in the late '50s). And producers and syndicators were only too happy to fill most of that time with first-run series...and people WERE watching them.
ОтветитьAnd credit where it's due to the stars who didn't even get billing in their own intros... Kent Taylor as Boston Blackie Glenn Gordon as Dr. Fu Manchu Tod Andrews as The Gray Ghost and, of course... Irish McCalla as Sheena!
ОтветитьIt's spooky how many of these shows I recall, even though I was quite young when they aired. We lived near Seattle where there were 2 or 3 independent stations alongside the Three Majors. These broadcast tons of syndicated series--the cheaper the station, the older the series. Many odd shows appeared. Among them I remember an English series, "Zero One," and ancient episodes of "Four Just Men" and "Racket Squad."
ОтветитьI always loved 26 men
ОтветитьI am sorry. These shows were HORRIBLE!
ОтветитьI remember BOSTON BLACKIE
Ответить"William Tell" - - haha, I bet it wasn't easy with those lyrics to the Wm. Tell Overture - - much less *singing* them!
ОтветитьMen in tights
Ответить"Yes sir, that's Boston Blackie, and he's quite a guy." Classic campy line.
ОтветитьI remember watching Soldiers of Fortune when I was a kid. Since I'm almost 65 my memory is a little hazy, but I vaguely remember watching another show I enjoyed that I 'think' came on the same night and the same channel. It was a comedy about two men who rented rooms in the home of a middle aged woman (Aunt Bea I think from Andy Griffith show but BEFORE that show was even dreamed of), and those two men reminded me so much of John Russell and Chick Chandler. Does anyone else remember that show?
Ответить..........................................better days, better times....................................!!!
ОтветитьNot the opening of "Soldiers of Fortune" that I remember, which showed them slashing their way through the jungle with machetes.
ОтветитьDid anyone ever count up how many TV series Roger Moore starred in? It's got to be some kind of record.
ОтветитьI loved The Vikings and Ivanhoe. The Gray Ghost and Boots and Saddles were also favourites Sheena was OK as was Soldiers of Fortune but I don't remember Fu Manch, Flash Gordon or I'm The Law.
Ответитьtales of the vikings....hasnt changed a bit.....same old caracter(real person)
ОтветитьWow! Thank you very much, RwDt09
ОтветитьSomeone messes up my painting like that, I'd whoop him too!
ОтветитьI don't know how you find all these old shows but I have become a major fan of yours. I have a lot of catching up to do.
ОтветитьReally got a kick out of these intros !!! And Tales of the Vikings !! I own 2 episodes!
Ответить....i wonder how the actors were able to hold their heads up in real life after working in some of these shows....i cringe at having watched some of 'em
ОтветитьI loved Flash Gordon when I was a kid. But that movie that came out in the (70s?) was really sad. Couldn't stand it at all.
ОтветитьThe theme here for "William Tell" is the one used in the original UK version. The show had a different ("Marching behind William Tell") theme in the U.S. because "The Lone Ranger" used the same music.
ОтветитьDoes anyone remember a show where the intro was a Ranger (I think) getting out of a car and strapped on that’s car door was a rifle.
Ответитьhes not even asian.
ОтветитьI discovered The Gray Ghost about two years ago; just love the show!😊
ОтветитьWish I could find the entire series on dvd - all 39 episodes.
ОтветитьForgot Richard Greene Robin Hood.
ОтветитьThis is the original black in white version of Sheena I hope she morphs anything in
the black in white series
I remember watching many of these
ОтветитьThat Viking one - I think Monty Python got a few good ideas from those old action-adventure things.
ОтветитьSoldiers of Fortune, what boy didn’t want a bolt action rifle.
Ответитьlove that intro roger moore long before he became sir roger.
