I disagree with your answer.. the venator could deploy 6 times as many ships as the ISD and they were all equipped with hyper drives. The arc one 70, which could be found in the hanger of a Venator, is a capitol ship killer.The venator could simply stay out of range of the ISD as hundreds of star fighters ( better than the tie fighters ) take bits and chunks out of the ISD before completely destroying it

The Venator has fighter superiority: it would overwhelm the ISD which lacks point defense except for it's TIEs, and 48 vs 394 is a very uneven fight. The Venator can engage from long range, let its fighters and bombers soften up the ISD, then move in for the kill. You don't fight an ISD up close: that's IT'S fight.

Yes the ISD would win, But only IF the fighter complement is not considered.
If you take into account the fighter complements of the 2 cruisers the Venator is the likely winner. Think on it more carefully, 420 starfighters is a lot of fighters considering the 60 (48 TIE-ln & 12 Tie-sa bombers) that the ISD carries. and some Venator configurations were known to carry BTL-B Y-wing or NTB-630 Naval Bombers. So in a direct 1 on 1 fight the ISD is the clear winner, But in a fight involving the fighters I say the Venator is the clear winner having 7 times the fighters.

I disagree In a long range engagement I feel the venator would win because of its over 400 fighters which are much better than a tie fighter and it also carried y wing bombers V wing intercepters and Z95 headhunters witch are also much better and Z95s and arc 170s also caried concussion missles or proton torpedos aswell as y wings which also had proton bombs which made those ships more versatile and more efective against larger ships and even with the point defence laser cannons strong hull and sheilds 400 fighters is just out of the question and the imperial has an over exposed bridge and sheild generators which the fighters can easily exploit but in a close range engagement i think the imperial stardestroyer would win because of the heavy armourment and at that range the venator won't have enough time to deploy all of its starfighters and bombers and like the imperial it has an over exposed bridge and when deploying fighters out of its ventral hanger it's a huge target so in my opinion I would give this battle a 50/50 what evership wins depends on the situation and range in my opinion atleast if the venator could get all of its starfighters out it would have a big advantage as it would be overwhelming for the imperial but if the imperial star destroyer can open up with its heavy turbo lasers and can do enough damage quick enough it won't have to worry too much about the starfighters but even if it does cripple or destroy the venator If it gets most or all of its fighters out I have no dought it will be overwhelmed by the swarm of fighters but this is just my opinion.

Also if the venator had bombers all they had to do was fire a few ion torpedoes and the sd would be defenseless and the venator could use its big guns to finish it off in short order. ISD might destroy venator but there is no way it would live to tell the tail. With 3-4x the number of fighters ISD didn't have any def. Agenst them.

I deeply disagree with that conclusion. That's like to say a battleship can win a battle against an aircraft carrier. It can but never will! There is a reason why there are no more battleships in service today and there are more aircraft carriers. The Venator not only has more fighters they are superior as well. The venetor will win pretty easily against 2 ISD and it will probably not be a challenge. The ISD also doesn't have point defense weapons so the chances of defending itself are very very slim. The Venator is the superior design!

I think you're underestimating the Venator, Eckhart put out a video about the same subject and it came out on top for good reason. Venators carry plenty of ARC 170's that can easily decimate the ISD and can deploy them much faster. Not to mention the Venator is faster and can stay out of the effective range of the ISD's guns while the ARC 170' and Y Wings cripple it.

The 100 some odd tie fighters could not protect an Imperial star destroyer from over 400 various star fighters. The ISD relied on the tie fighters as it's only point defense against opposing star fighters. And if you said Two republic cruisers? That would be over 800 star fighters, many which had weapons capable of damaging shields and hull.

400+ fighters from a Venator would completely destroy an ISD1 and it's 2 squadrons of tie fighters. A Venator can carry Y-wings so yes they have bombers as well.

Well in Thrawns Revenge A EAW Expansion I Made A Good Fleet Of Venators for the New Republic. It’s a Sub Mod. This Version Has Y wings Shielded Tie Fighters And Howl Runners. I use 8 Venators with Some of the Latest Calamari Cruisers And Cr-90 corvettes for some of my Fleets. And I won Several Battles with little or no Losts

Palpatine made a huge mistake when transforming the republic into the empire. Not only was the imperial class star destroyer a huge downgrade from the venator class, but stormtroopers were also largely inferior to that of clone troopers. Hell, I’ll betcha even 1 clone trooper can take down 50 storm troopers. Palpatine shoulda just kept the clone troopers as well as the capital ships but only difference just have them serve for the empire instead.

I think phasing in Star Destroyers made sense for the Empire's goals. On one hand, It would have made more sense to have 3 tiers to the fleet and not waste credits/resources- frigates/Venators for troop deployment, Star Destroyers for Naval warfare, and Super Star Destroyers as capitol ships. Venators could have been a lower cost resource deployment to worlds of lesser importance or threat level. It would also be better to throw 3 Venators at the Rebel fleet for every 1 Star Destroyer in terms of cost (assuming you can sufficiently staff these vessels).

On the other hand, Star Destroyers consolidate naval power and personnel resources into more durable and intimidating symbols of their power. Credits don't seem to mean anything to the Emperor, as evidenced by the massive Death Star investment that was costly enough to bankrupt any galactic government prior to the Empire. Despite its massive cost, they were able to immediately begin constructing a second one after the first was destroyed. So if finances weren't an issue, then perhaps access to raw materials could be. Hence it makes sense to scrap the Venators to recycle materials into upgraded weaponry that apparently the Empire could write blank cheques to purchase.

The venator had over 500 starfighters including 40+ ARC-170, Y WING bombers, the rest a combination between the ecta class or V WING interceptors. stated of in the latest Star Wars guide to vehicles that the venator class had just as much as a powerful Shield generator as an imperial 1 class star destroyers. Tho the class 2 had better shields. It's a venator managed to unleash a quarter or even half of it starfighters if not the Imperial class 1 Star Destroyer with stand no chance

The ISD is like practically everything the Empire put out, very inefficiently designed and serves primarily to impress and bully the weak. The Arquitens class light cruiser, a Republican era warship, proved to me much more effective at fighting the rebellion than the ISD ever did. The ISD required a ton of manpower, fuel and supplies to be fielded and for what? The Rebel Alliance had barely any capital ships and for those they had, updated Clone Wars era designs would have been more than sufficient.
It's like the freakin' Yamato. On paper a monster of ship, but guzzled fuel like mad and so couldn't actually leave harbor all that often and was eventually sunk by fighters without ever having actually fought any other battleships (I think the Yamato managed to sink an escort carrier).

The Venator would win very quickly and easily. I don't know if it can out-run an Imperial, but it probably can at least once it's emptied its load of fighters and bombers. Given how incredibly effective even a tiny handful of fighters have proven consistently against the Imperial-class Star Destroyers, it would die in a heartbeat from hundreds. And that's without considering the fact that a Venator can simply launch its craft and hyperspace out. Only returning when the Imperial is dead or a retreat is required.

In a full on fight your forgetting that the venator can carry more fighters and the isd has no point defense system to protect it. If the venator were to launch all fighters they would quickly wipe out the isd’s fighters and then those same fighters would target the isd bringing it down. It would take almost a dozen isd’s to match the venators capabilities and if the venator had bombers on board they could go after the isd while the rest of the fighters were fighting.

Credit for credit the destroyer loses. For the price of one destroyer and its full compliment, you can get 2 cruisers, with their full compliment and a handful of corvette class ships as well.
