Aren't historical romances often times the most explicit and fed up? At least in Germany they are. We have one called Die Wanderhure, which literally means traveling hooker.

This idea that people in all times and places in the past just didn’t know about sex and babies is wild to me. I mean sure high class ladies probably didn’t have to deal with it, but I’m pretty certain a lot of young girls were around for their younger sibling’s births and things.
