DJI Avata Review: Getting Started in FPV Drone Flying

Consistently, video after video, I always think to myself...man...that beard is just on-point. Looks like red turf. An inspiration to us all, frankly.

yes its noisey.
you need a battery strap asap
and you need to practice
in the sim, with a dji controller 2.
You can crash it and survive.
i have ordered the TrueRC X-AIR MKII 5.8GHz Antenna For DJI Goggles 2.
put it in FCC mode, i have 5 batteries as one is useless
I also have prop guards installed.
Its say range is 4 miles but its bullshit its about 1 mile if your lucky.
battery is good for 10 to 12 mins not the 18 mins dji tells you.

Why does everyone call DJI DGI?

FPV = First Person View, not first person video..

the fact that avata hit the ground, bounce into air and continue flying is fuckin amazing!
with custom drone it would be so dead with battery shooting 100m away!

Thank you. This is exactly the video I wanted and needed; it certainly helped me to gain insight and perspective on FPV drone flying from a newcomers standpoint.

I'm new to drones however am not new to flying, having flown planes and helicopters in the past. I have a DJI Mini 2 and whilst I appreciate how effortless it is to control and fly, that same effortless makes it a tad dull. I like the manual input and skill required when flying RC helicopters, and am hoping the Avata fills this void.

I agree, it's silly that there's not a base package that includes the proper controller. It would have made more sense being the other way around, with the motion controller being an optional add-on. Guessing DJI knew that they wouldn't sell any motion controllers if they were a separated optional extra.

FPV acronym stands for First Person View , not First Person Video.

Weird complaint about the price. Pray tell, what comparable digital system can you get for this amount of money? Drone + gogles + controller + batteries for drone and gogles, LiPo charger.

Excellent video! One comment is that the controller requires GPS and not a cell connection, for the controller to have remote ID. The smart device does not even require a SIM card, just needs to have built-in GPS.

Actually your statement on needing cell service for remote id is incorrect all you need is gps and dji fly and you are set.

FPV is not First Person Video, it is First Person VIEW.

Thinking of buying the Avata. Wondering if there's gonna be a Avata 2 sooner than later?

What simulator were you using? I've been looking into FPV and most folks do recommend starting with one, but there are a lot of conflicting recommendations.

Finally, a real unbiased reviewer. I always wanted an FPV drone as my first drone. But, I never thought that this avata is manual. I generally thought it was like the other dji drones with auto features. Anyway, can the mini 3 pro also connect to that dji goggles 2?

Thank you for the video. How does one find the simulator? I have the Mavic air 2 with the standard controller. Now I’m about to purchase the Avata Pro view combo with the motion controller. I guess I can’t use the Mavic air 2 controller with the Avata?

Very helpful, i want to buy this thing so desperately for my next trip but the loudness of it is a deal breaker for me. Can't have loud drones as I've already had unpleasant experiences with my much quieter drones catching attention. I would buy it in a heart beat if this thing was little quieter. Some videos I watch of the camera quality on the avata is great and some the grass and trees etc look fuzzy. They sell battery holders for the battery popping out too
