Have the knock-offs got as far as tyres yet? I was just looking around for a new front tyre and noticed massive variance in price for the same model.

Big fan of EvoTech products, got various bits on my Street Triple. Can’t fault the customer service either, I somehow managed to crossthread the front spindle bar, explained to them what I’d done and they sent a replacement out free of charge a few days later 👍🏼

Some Chinese parts are awful as shown here, but I came across a few chinese brands like nicecnc who actually aren’t too bad! Still I wouldn’t use them on critical parts!

Your video about the leathers was great. The padding was inferior and was not as advertised. But the premise of this video goes against the free market. You claim anyone making a similar product for less money is a fake or a knock off. Using your logic, every tire manufacturer is guilty of making a fake or knock off of the original tire. There will always be companies who make a similar product for less money, that is how the free market works. These Chinese parts are not violating any copyright or patent laws, so they have a right to make similar products for less money. Many riders buy those parts for the bling factor. They do not need crash protection because they don't ride aggressively or in the rain; just like the guys who buy lifted Jeeps and never go off road.

Just bought a rad guard, bobbins, tail tidy for my gsxs1000 on order. The quality is awesome and personally I do love their subtle logo which always makes me choose them over R&G.
I would never buy knock of Chinese parts especially brake and clutch levers - asv all the way for me. I can see how the young riders with a limited budget can get swayed into buying knockoffs or aliexpress parts.

Horses for courses, if you want to buy cheaply-made, knocked off junk to save a few quid, go ahead. Bolt it on your $5k or $15k bike. Not me. I buy quality parts for my Triumph Speed 3, including oil and rad guards, sliders and bobbins from EP.

I'm really glad you make these videos so we can understand why these parts are so expensive. It almost feels unreasonable when you think it's just a simple part. And what they are doing goes beyond better quality. It's to do exactly what they intend for it to do. I have found companies like Atlas that claim to make it a there stuff in house to find out from some Chinese sellers they were making it from before Atlas as a established. So they are pretty much up selling Chinese parts although made in Taiwan where labor is cheaper. As where Evo Tech is actually researching and teating to make good parts.

This was fascinating. People who knowingly buy the fake stuff will do all kinds of mental gymnastics to justify it, but we need to be as ethical as we expect the companies to be.

Absolutely brilliant video and a real eye-opener. Compelling evidence why you shouldn't buy Chinese knock-offs even for items that may not seem to compromise safety at first glance.
Is there any chance you could make an abridged version of this, say 5 - 10 minutes long? I would like to link your video whenever I make a comment on forums and FB groups why people should not buy cheap Ali Express rubbish, but I think that most people when they see that the video is 50 minutes long, they just won't bother watching it.

Brilliant video, I’m as guilty as others buying cheaper products, purchased a hugger for my NC750X from what i thought was a British warehouse only to find it is coming from china after purchase ( still waiting a month later ) what has happened since is loads of spam , Royal Mail saying address not complete etc, now my French bank account has been hacked i think ( waiting for credit Agricole to get back to me) the Chinese are totally out of control, something needs to be done. So no more cheap crap and double checks its genuine parts

The counterfitters will literally copy everything. It pains me to see people with ££££ bikes scrimping on buying cheaper copy parts from the far east. Case in point are the Quadlock and RAM Mounts that are widely copied. Why pay for obviously cheaper quality parts that put your investment at risk. I see people buying £50 crash helmets from Amazon and then get ridiculed for my Shoei. I dont wish ill anybody but sometimes these people need to learn a lesson about buying the original kit and not revelling in saving a pound that potentially puts their safety at risk.

Hey, I'm in Australia & I want some of your parts for my CBR650R (LAMS) when I get it.
I'm thinking I want to try to get it in June for my Birthday, or for X-mas. At the very latest June next year which will be my 50th.
I want a Tail Tidy because the stock/factory/OEM plate holder sticks out too far & is fugly. I want the Frame Sliders & Wheel Spindle (Axle?) Sliders to protect her if/when I drop her. And I want some aftermarket Mirrors that have the Indicators integrated into them & that don't stick out from the Screen Fairing on spindly little arms, but look more like they're a part of the screen fairing piece, as well as a set of Bar Ends(the 1's that go on the ends of the hand grips?).
Do you also have Rear Spindle/Axle Sliders?
I'm even seriously considering buying these items before I get the bike so I can install them all as soon as I get her to ensure she's better protected right from the start, without having to wait for parts to arrive, etc... 🤔

Not all is black or white,i have evo tech crash pads exactly like original inside with aluminium and outside nylon and have buy this for 20$.
and yes not all develop the things, but because they want to produce cheaply they have the things produced in China which means that the producers china there have all the plans and then they sell exactly the same product or sometimes they simply change the name or sell them without a brand name.
Of course there are also fake productions where, for example, they buy a product and then simply copy it and then do the whole thing in a worse and cheaper version for example rearset looks from outside exactly or 98% same but the material is instead Aluminium 7075 T6 they take the cheaper 6061 T6 or 6065,which not means this are not safe but is bit cheaper material. That's why you have to be careful not every product on aliexpress is bad, on the contrary I have already bought a few things that are 1:1 the same, sometimes only with marginal changes.
I have been ordering from China for 6-7 years, just as an example the GB racing engine cover protectors, they have always done their job. In the event of a crash on the race track, nothing has ever broken on the engine and in the 6-7 years I have been on the race track I've had at least 5-6 crashes, and it's the same with the crash pads as already mentioned i never had a problem they pads or protectors have really helpd for bigger damages. There are sellers who only offer nylon, but if you know where you can also buy the same crash pads that Evo-Tech offers on the inside with aluminum etc. That's why You can't say that everything is bad where you buy on aliexpress or somewhere else in china. Just pay attention to the reviews and if there are hardly any reviews, ask the seller for real pictures.

They make good stuff but kinda overpriced imo.. i had em on my old bike but in the new one I don't.. 340 euros for two crush bobins is too much money for some aluminum and plastic... these products are not even necessary on a motorcycle! It makes no sense to me sorry... and in fact from design point of view I like their bobins more than everything else on the market!

What makes this all worse is the UK based client who has bought a cheap part, that damages their bike, and then tries to chip the local workshop down on price , as they have already spent a good bit of their budget on the "Wrong thing" in the first place. This is a huge problem.

Interesting how a number of the sites which sell Chinese rubbish actually have US HQ addresses. Do people in the West steel the designs and commission Chinese factories to build them? Easy to blame Chinese straight from the hip. I'm not saying Chinese aren't involved, but there are 10000s of small factories all over China, half of them staffed by slaves with little education, they may be commissioned in what they think is good faith. Of course it's going to be different in every case.

I think people who are aware of buying these fakes also buy Chinese tyres pretending they are the same quality. These are also the same dudes having special "tunes" that give their Bandit 400hp. The same dudes blaming the bike dealers of damaging their shitty bikes during maintenance. The same dudes that are telling you how much better it is to ride without a helmet and gloves. We all know them 😢
