when we were walking around Tokyo, we saw places that had clearly not been occupied for years with vines and debris growing over a old bicycle and doors on what were nice properties before being abandoned

Tokyo looks like the best Megapolis on the planet to be homeless in. Crime is so insignificant compared to most of the rest of the world. Would love to cycle my bike around the city all night and biketour the whole island.
I was there in 2002, aged 15 , to watch Ireland in the world cup. Such a wonderful culture shock.
