exactly the same issue with psvr 2

My mic is very quiet.
I stream when playing a game with my friend who is using Q2… his voice is loud and clear, even on recording.
Mine is very quiet, sounds like I’m whispering

Wish they fix the mute issue, it's annoying the quick button for record doesn't unmute the mic, going the long way to record with mic is a pain

I like how he had an issue with the monrophone sound and yet it sounded perfecr.

Mine sounds much worse than yours. I’d honestly be happy with the mic quality yours had in the beginning. Mine sounds like Virtual Oasis’ but even worse at times. It looks like it may be a quality control issue. Meta wants me to return it for a replacement so 🤞 PS: they told me the mic(s) is on either side of the nose area. The 2 small gaps on both sides of the nose area. Not sure why they keep the mic locations such a big secret 🤐 lol. Thanks for your video!

Quest 3 seriously hurts my face with the regular strap. Like way worse than the 2 which really surprised me.

I got mine 2 days ago and today it now doesn't find the mic at all 😂 but on meta it does say the mic will be fixed in the next update along with the pass through camera getting settings to make the quality better

The mic didn’t sound bad but meta should have put in a better mic. They better fix it or else expect many people to return it.

I play all vr mute since my day job is in communications so the microphone isn't an issue for me but bluetooth earbuds works well I've experienced.

They should add a ai that recognizes when you are speaking or breathing and eliminating the pop and grainy sound...

Mine sounds worse than the recording you showed here, and on top of that VRChat cannot detect it well and even with the gate at 0% and the volume at 100 it cuts off my voice and my friends keep telling me to repeat myself while speaking slower and louder. That's just so dumb because I had a quest 2 before and I wanna go back to it now, and the quest 2 doesn't have the annoying vignette so.. I'm hesitant right now.

The ANC is pretty good!

Placing the microphone inside the pogo pins means that anything you do for adding a pop filter is going to block the use of the pogo pins. Also means the reverse could potentially be a problem... anything using the pogo pins would interfere with the microphone. Combining these two completely unrelated systems does not seem like engineering that was fully thought through. I can see how it wouldn't be a problem in the most straightforward use case, but engineers are supposed to consider more possibilities than that.

The OG Vive suffered from popping sound too. Folk were making makeshift pop filters as well for it. Crazy HTC prices for their headsets, and stick a crappy mic in for your money 🤬

You find anything on the external battery issues?

This is all quality control issues, my first unit had a terrible mic, my second one sounded amazing. Also there seems to be a lenses quality control problem also.

I think this could be corrected with a firmware update. Or, adjust the mic's sound gates. I don't know exactly what they could do, but whatever needs to be done, they need to fix it. If it's only some affected, well there are going to be a lot of people returning it for the model that works

definately not the only dumb decision they made - the app library is dogshit in terms of not showing you your old, uninstalled crap. also no way to filter or organize your apps there. you might have expected that with the billions spent and all the talk of multiverse, we would have a custom 3d environ of our own homes (AR) as a 3d "desktop" with 3d objects for icons, etc. i mean the skys the limit but no, lets keep things tedious and boring

I also attached a clean earbud cover on my Quest 2 to fight the plosives. I agree it would be useful if they allowed us to use external mics. Ulternatively it would have been smart to at least offer a mic hole design that intentionally allows a magnetic clip on fluff or flat pop screen to attach on it that we can buy cheaply directly through them or from third parties. For those who care more about their mic audio than the external visuals of the device.

My issue is the discomfort on my forehead from the Q3 with elite headstrap, I cant ignore or get used to it, to a point Quest 2 didnt have a concentrated force on the forehead like the Q3. Im hoping the bobovr and retrofit is going to save this headset for me

META seriously needs to add support on ALL Quest headsets for allowing pairing of external Bluetooth mic's as an operative default device that all apps use by default. There is absolutely no excuse not to allow external Bluetooth mic's as the inherent Bluetooth latency aught to be irrelevant as an issue in the big picture of usage.

This is a great video! Ive heard that the on board Bluetooth has high latency again so Bluetooth is probably out.
Maybe a tube from the noise cancelling mic could be put up your nose, lol!
Or maybe the solution would be foam and wind baffle that could maybe magnetically attach to the charging pin area? Is it metal near there?
But probably a low latency usb headset is needed.
Seems like they kept the audio designer from the quest pro! Because apparently the mic was pretty basic on that headset too.

Interesting solution. But the problem is really not so big for most people. We just had a conference with three Quest 3 and nobody noticed any difference compared to our old Quest 1/Quest 2-Headsets.

My only problem with is so far is I don't have one yetr! Lucky me though, a homie of mine works at a store and gets 20% off any item, IMa pick one up for 20% off then sell my mint condition quest 2 , the biger 256 GB model if you know anyone. Includes spare batter, official opculuis case, nice qulity longh USB c cable.

I'm so happy with the quality on the quest 2, I often get ask in my content, what mic are you using? I'm just using stock mic, shame to hear they've messed up the mic in the quest 3 when they nailed it in the quest 2!

I may be using crap earbuds at the moment, but the audio you captured in this test plosives and all was 100x better quality than the sample you played from twitter.
However it is hugely baffling that anyone would knowing place a mic right next to a person nose (unless they and everyone else were naïve enough to think that air you breathe out from your nose only goes down... it does not....especially if you've just been moving around a bunch as some VR games have you do)
