Wow! I haven't heard the "and" and "but" talked about in so long! It is such a major communication component and has made a huge difference in my relationships. "But" cuts off communication. "And" continues the conversation.

Derek, you are brilliant!! My spiritual teacher always asked us to replace our “but”s with “and”s. He said AND is the heart centered awareness, which is the same as IFS Self, with all those 8C’s and more.

IFS is such an art form! The more I learn about my own parts, the more I realize how IFS is far less technical than other psychotherapies, and requires a high level of delicate, softness, intuitive, and powerful confident but kind presence.
