Why Does Alka-Seltzer Fizz?

A part 2 would be cool! Why does the alka-selzter alleviate stomach issues / help with indigestion? I doubt it is nothing more than because bubbles...

I love the carbonation in Alka Seltzer but don't need or want the aspirin. I only take one tablet in large glass of ice water occasionally. How much aspirin in one tablet and are the side effects harmful? Not taking for any problem I just love the fizz and taste.😮
