Because Patel has been Senate confirmed as the FBI Director, he can serve as 'Acting Director' of the ATF indefinitely. No time limit.
Patel can appoint anyone as 'Deputy Director' of the ATF, without Senate confirmation.

I would like to see the DOJ take the initiative on suing states for their unconstitutional gun laws.

The main reason no one is talking about it is because they have been irrevelant and dont matter for most of us. If they want to push their tyrannical rule, that only effects those who are cowardice and bend the knee to it. The rest of us care none of their BS

The ATF needs to be rained in, but not dismantled. We do need sensible gun control which means we need an enforcement agency. I don’t think anyone of us thinks it’s a good idea for individuals for running around with fully automatic weapons or a rocket launchers (those are illegal for good reason, they provide the capacity for an individual to do too much damage beyond self-defense) . Devices that are a workaround to make something technically not illegal because of the way it makes it fully automatic should also be illegal….. being pro gun rights can also mean being pro sensible gun control. I’m pro automobile, but I’m also pro speed limit.

Instead of impoundment, the ATF should send the agents to work with ICE since the gangs and cartel all have illegal guns. More boots on the ground. They all are law enforcement and firearm trained.

Colorado is headed the other direction and imposing MORE unconstitutional gun laws! We need to go on the offense but not only directing the rules and laws the way we want them to go, but reversing some of the illegal gun laws across the united states.

I agree that there is no need for a special ATF task force if we already have the FBI, which already covers all laws. But Patel has stated that he would like the FBI to be heavily involved in state and local politics. Some people might like that. But i personally have never thought that the federal government should grow in power and destroy states rights.

TL;DR is that the game of politics has changed. It changed like 60 years ago and the left has used it to absolutely crush people and sicken our country maybe past a recoverable point. The biggest part of that was how they used the federal government as a hammer.

Much of the right didn’t even realize that until a few short years ago.

The ATF isn’t being dismantled……..Yet! Bondi is reviewing the illegal “Rules” of the ATF. Hopefully, the ATF is dismantled and rolled into the FBI. The problem with this is that if the Next administration is Anti-gun, they could use the entire force of the FBI against gun owners. Congress needs to repeal the NFA or at least have a court case that SCOTUS to strike it down.

I love the current new direction, however, I am also forward thinking. I don’t want future admins to try and use FBI to start going out for law abiding citizens in the name of the ATF.

Suppressors should almost be required safety devices allowing for grandfathered tools without it.

Ok, the ATF was not formed to collect taxes.
You younger people know nothing except what you have been fed all your life by Wayne LaPierre and the NRA.
I see it every day in the 2A movement.
I dumped the NRA back in 1982 when LaPierre took the NRA down the road to turn it into a political organization to fuel his coffers.

This is not just good news for our rights, but also our budget. There are too many agencies with overlapping functions. We need to consolidate Federal Law Enforcement. He should make Kash the head of the DEA as well.
