It all sounds logical and still does not do the whole picture justice. First thing: when you look at a person, you not only see the face shape, but rather the entire body. There is an interplay between your hairstyle and your overall shape. A tall, very slender woman with a small head should stay away from very short pixie hairstyles as they give her an overall unfavourable bird-like appearance, while waist-length hair would accentuate the waist (and the butt, as it seems to point down there). If you are a person with round body contours, stay away from round hairstyles, no matter what your face shape. Second thing: the features within the face play an important part, too. The female face in your drawings is a model of beauty with big almond eyes, a cute nose, and perfect lips; she can wear any hairstyle anyway. When you have a very straight, thin nose, straight lips, and straight eyebrows, for example, you can afford "rounder-looking" hairstyles to counterbalance that straightness; but if all your facial (and body) features are round anyway, with a crooked or a protruding nose, then stay away from styles that accentuate and repeat such features - totally regardless of your face shape. Third thing: 99% of the human race don´t look like models when it comes to facial features. If we have some flaw, which is extremely likely, having lots of hair generally distracts from it. The sheer mass of hair will be looked at first; it is an asset in itself, and the flaw in the face will gain less attention. All those people who promote short and layered hairstyle don´t take that effect into account enough, and the whole talk about round/square/rectangular/oval face shapes oversimplifies the complex task right from the start. Such things are greatly overestimated - as are hairstylists in general. They can only shorten and style hair and will only earn money if they do so. They have a natural interest in shorter hair, as wearing waist-length hair, for example, requires years of not seeing a salon. Hairstylists profit from the impatient, and from styles that require lots of maintenance.
ОтветитьThis was very helpful, thanks a lot
ОтветитьI have a rectangle face, I think.😕 I thought it was oval but looking at people with oval faces something was just not looking accurate. It's very confusing. I realised it was not oval because I ask people in my family and they don't give a straight answer. Or they just don't care. 😆 Now I know how to style my hair. As you said "trying to fit it into the norm." Thanks for this.
ОтветитьThese models are straight hair. I have natural curly hair. 🤔
ОтветитьLayering my thin hair is not doable
Ответитьtoo much intro blahhh blahhh zzzzzzzz….click out
ОтветитьThis was the best video that brings a great deal of clarity to face shape. Thank you.
ОтветитьWhy talk face shapes, it’s single handedly the number one reason why women these days are afraid to experiment with their hair. The face shapes myth has been perpetuated enough don’t you think? Yes, it’s a myth.., case in point, men, you never hear a barber saying, I’m sorry sir, you dint have the face for short hair, let’s grow it out to your chin. Look at hair fashion over the years and you’ll see it’s largely cultural.
Ответитьtell abt diamond face shape it is most difficult to style
ОтветитьExcellent video. Thank you ❤
ОтветитьThat blow dryer test/compition was hilarious!!! Great way to promote it!
ОтветитьThanks as always, loved the hair dryer challenge. Your doggies are so well behaved 💕
ОтветитьI'm sick of seeing Bob haircuts , there's nothing to these hair cuts . There's no challenge to the cut. Boring
Ответить❤️❤️❤️
ОтветитьCan you please do a video on how to fix duck butt on women with shorter hair in the am when we wake up. It never fails soon as I wake up I’ve got duck butt in the back of my hair again. I am doing whatever it takes to avoid using heat every day except the styling day but have no idea how to fix this issue in the am
ОтветитьBut what if you have a full face and rectangle? I always wear bangs ans never ever in the middle.vthat seems to make my face look longer.
ОтветитьYou never said which bob is best for an oval face.
ОтветитьI just want a bob today! Hahah! But I'm a curly girl with round face 😊
ОтветитьThank you Justin, great tips.
ОтветитьThank you for a very informative and to the point video. I have an oval face shape but with very specific characteristics that have made it hard in the past to choose the right haircut (I've tried so many!) I was wondering what you might recommend for an oval face shape with narrower forehead and wider cheeks which are soft (and also the tip of my nose is round) ?
For context: I have grown my hair long but it's very heavy and I'm not one for styling my hair and I've been missing a bob hairstyle to give me more volume on top and a lighter feeling. My concern is that some shorter bob haircuts in the past accentuated my narrower forehead in contrast with the wider roundness of the lower side of my face when I added side swept bangs or any type of bangs but leaving the front part long seems to drag my face down. Would really appreciate any feedback you can provide! Thank you.
How loud is it? I like quiet dryer.
ОтветитьDoes this apply to curly hair aswell?
ОтветитьYou didn't talk bout oval shape at all. 😢 Jst mentioned it n went back to the others
ОтветитьReally good advice from a pro on the bob. I am definitely getting side bangs cut this week to balance my oval face. Too much weight on bottom! Thanks so much!
Ответитьno diamond shape?
ОтветитьVery helpful video! As an older woman I BBC would love to find a hair cut that helps me look younger and not odd.
ОтветитьBut we didnt get any rules for ovals. :(
ОтветитьI have a fat round face w/a double chin 😭 literally the worst shape…& I have poofy hair yet I want short hair w/bangs
ОтветитьThat's hilarious comparing a $25 Conair hairdryer against one that costs $150. They both looked pretty comparable.
ОтветитьI have an oval face but am older and have jowls. Does that mean I should go for a shorter bob or longer bob. Trying to take the focus away from the jowls and neck.
ОтветитьI have a family member that thinks just because she has long blonde hair past her shoulder, that she's a godess. But when you sport 60 extra pounds, and your hair is whispy, chewed up and gray, time to rethink that 12 year old hairstyle of your youth
ОтветитьI think the shape of your head (side profile) also plays a role on what style suits you best.
ОтветитьAre there hairstyles that suit an older woman with a double chin? Larger ladies don't show up in videos about style and often hairstylists don't take size into account. I don't especially need to cover up my faults, but I really don't want them on display either. Thanks.
ОтветитьHi Justin, have you covered hairstyles that look good both wavy/curly and straight, for us ladies over 50 with textured hair?
ОтветитьI disagree with all of these 😂 Maybe it's cause I find an oval face shape to be the most boring and unattractive one. I really liked all the ones you said to avoid cause they emphasized the uniqueness of the person's face. It's just what I prefer 🤷♀️
ОтветитьYou also need to take into account body type
ОтветитьThanks for the video. I have a rectangle face with a larger forehead and a slight widow's peak. Currently my hair falls around my shoulders in mostly one length. I am wondering if adding more layering and side swept bangs is a good idea? I want some length to be able to pull my hair up as I have an active lifestyle.
ОтветитьThis is as clear and helpful as it's gonna get! Still I can't figure out my own face shape. I'm gonna have to ask my hair stylist next time I see him. :-D
ОтветитьWhat about a diamond
Face
Unless I have short hair like a bob it is hard for me to deal with the hair strands getting in my face and sticking…so i have grown it out only so I can pull it back into a ponytail…but I wore the longer and also the short Bob for several years…so i have an oval face what haircut can I get that makes my face look like I got a facelift? 😂
ОтветитьExcellent. Thank you 🌸🙏🏻🇿🇦🐘🫂🦏
ОтветитьSuch good puppies!
ОтветитьThis is great! I think I have a diamond face - narrow jaw, highish checkbones, no widows peak - so I should reference the heart face?
ОтветитьWhy you don’t have subtitles for all languages?
ОтветитьWhat about a LONG FACE HIGH FORHEAD
ОтветитьGreat video Justin! Thank you!
ОтветитьI’m a fat woman w/a round face w/a double chin, & unfortunately I want bangs & short hair. I know it’s unflattering but what would be the best cut for my frizzy curly hair & face?
ОтветитьWhat if you don’t like bob styles?
ОтветитьFor the round face i liked the short bob with bangs. Not everyone wants to hide their face shape. Im not fat but i still have a round face. It makes me look 35 but i am 56.
