Reasons:-
1. Rainfall decreased
2. El nino:- drought prone condition:- Pacific Ocean condition
3. WMO:- 2024-:- Record hot year

Consequences:-
1. Chennai:- day -0
2. Benguluru water crisis starved water :- kaveri river
3. Heatwave and temperature
4. Falling water level HYDROPOWER dams
5. Low reservoir level:- increased dependence
