Just found out my new BCBS insurance will not accept weightloss drugs because it isn't on their formulary. My doctor's office has received multiple rejections. Ugh. I have PCOS and despite eating very healthy and working out; there is something in the weightloss drugs that balances my hormones and allows me to lose the weight. So weightloss drugs are my only option. I rather risk it and go to a compounded pharmacy because remaining obese is not safe either. Just my two cents.

I think something else to consider is the risk. Yes you might be risking more with the compounded version but the more time you go by carrying so much weight you will also be risking more side effects of obesity and diabetes. So not taking it is also a risk.

I’ve been on Wegovy and now for cost savings and availability issues, I’m on semaglutide. I’ve noticed no difference between the two. I’ve been told by a my nurse practitioner and pharmacist that the only difference is there’s something added to the semaglutide, usually B12, just so they don’t get in trouble for patent infringement. I feel great as I continue my journey now, and I’m down 70 lbs. with only very minor side effects when I first began taking it. Also, I paid triple the price for Wegovy vs. the semaglutide. I was prescribed Ozempic and Wagovy but could not get the medication filled. Then, I got a letter from my insurance denying the medication. If semaglutide is as good as ppl say it is, and there is an obesity problem in America, why is Big Pharma so greedy and charging enormous costs to its customers? Like the comment below, I am a nurse also, and doctors have told me to inquire about compounded pharmacies to help with cost and availability. People are taking risks with off-brand because Big Pharma makes it unaffordable for the majority of the population. I will take an educated risk, and I am taking the leap!

This confirms what I thought. I have questioned the safety of semagultide by a compilound pharmacy.

FDA probably only put out these warnings so you have to go to Big Pharma instead, and give them your money. "FDA approved" is a scam.

Nah, Imma go ahead and stick to my compounded semaglutide. I researched, reviewed, and selected my compounded product based on what I found. I'm not about to let the FDA, big pharma, and insurance companies (looking at you, Untied Health 👀) tell me what I'm allowed to use to help me lose weight. I'm sick of the medical industrial complex.
