My theory is that the engineers discovered the creatures and tried to domesticate the creature for subjugation like a dog. Didnt work out that way.

Maybe you didn't pay attention in the alien movie in the Prometheus movie but David went to a planet that wasn't the engineers Planet it was a planet that the engineers seeded. If you look at them people on the planet that all died they were smaller than Engineers but they had saying features it's because it's a planet that they populated like Earth. Regarding the Engineers they have gone through various Changes, initially intended to be 15ft, then downgraded to 10ft but in the Movie we get 7-8ft Beings as RS did not want to use Special Effects etc ( he thinks the difference in the Space Jockey had the Engineers is not important).... The Engineers were a Ancient Race who had Genetically Enhanced themselves to live for many Thousands of Years, and eventually they lost the ability to procreate... after Prometheus RS suggested that the Engineers could Procreate normally but just choose to Procreate the way they did in Prometheus. RS then indicated that the Engineers in Prometheus are NOT the God's and he never wanted to meet God in the first movie (hence the removal of the Elders scene) With Alien Covenant we have more Human looking Engineers who RS refers to as the Original Engineers who live for 150 years or so. He made further comments and A.I and thinks that A.I does not have to be Synthetic, and the Replicants in Blade Runner are a A.I... RS refers to the Engineers in Prometheus as Military types. When looking at the Prometheus Engineers there almost artificial Synthetic looking Skin, it is likely that RS saw these guys as Artificial Engineered Enhanced Super Engineers like Replicants to Humans. Of note is that the Prometheus Engineers lack Nipples but those in Alien Covenant (Davids Notes) had Nipples and Females..which seems to indicate that the Prometheus Engineers are some kind of Clones/Genetically Enhanced Military Types.

Hell in the movie it says engineers lost the ability to reproduce, the black goo (original) was the blood of the first decon. The David black goo was a synthetic that he created that was molecularly identical. The space jockey, engineers and inhabitants of LV223 were all different versions of the same beings I could go on and on. But that’s enough for now.

Don't compare it to The Long Night from Game of Thrones. THAT was very disappointing. This wasn't like that. It could have been more and perhaps if it is further explored (as it seems to be in some of the new comics) it still can but it is in no way near the sh*t show that season 8 of GOT was.

I would LIKE to think that the xeno were manifested on a particular planet on their own and the engineers found and used them by biology to harness them as a weapon through DNA, which they created the black goo from them.
It would explain Prometheus and why they had eggs in Alien.
It doesn't make sense how David created the xeno and how the Derelict ship in Alien somehow had aquired eggs after.

i dont think david was the original creator of aliens, he was sort of retreading the path of the gods as he used their black goo to create bioweapon monsters. in the extended lore like books and stuff, i think the general idea was the aliens were created by engineers as weapons for their wars using black goo. a the dark use of the technology which could bring either death or life.

I think the “natives” whom David killed may not have been engineers. They were probably another result of engineers seeding a planet except they were a better result than the humans which is why engineers probably were regularly visiting them on their ships. They wanted to greed engineers as engineers wanted people to worship gods on earth.

The blood u seen in the first movie is the original deacon blood. The black goo is a copy they try recreate the deacon blood but the black goo went wrong. So the deacon blood is the good to recreate because engineers cannot. The black goo is the bad. Hence why it don’t look the same.

I thought it was understood that the black goo that the engineer at the beginning drank was not the same black goo that killed the engineers when David released it. The black goo in the beginning was made from the Deacon's blood. When the engineers ran out of the Deacon's black goo they tried to "engineer" it and it obviously didn't work and it turned into the stuff that kills everybody.

What the engineer drinks is the blood of the first Deacon. You can notice the difference as there is gold in the version the engineer drinks.

Put simply: the “engineers” are to the Alien franchise, what “midichlorians” are to Star Wars. A contrived retcon idea invented 20-30 years after the original film and which have nothing to do with Alien, Aliens or Alien 3. Completely unnecessary and the result of a director overthinking their masterwork years later, and deciding to “overexplain” the very things that made it mysterious and magic originally. Via some new but very ill-conceived idea.

The original space jockey was never an "engineer" in some elephantine shaped suit. He was never meant to be a blue humanoid. He wasn’t in a suit at all. He was some other bizarre, unknown alien species, maybe or maybe not related to the xenomorph. This is confirmed when you read or listen to the early discussions/comments from HR Giger or Dan O’Bannon. And it’s painfully obvious this is what Ridley originally intended in the scene too. The creature was huge. Ribs bent outward. “Fused to the chair”. Clearly some truly alien biomechanical life form. Absolutely fascinating and haunting in concept and appearance.

I wish they had kept this aspect of the lore - Ridley made a huge mistake retconning that creature, into blue humanoids. By connecting everything "alien" back toward being created by humans, or human adjacent, or robots made by humans (as with David being the alleged creator of aliens in Covenant)... Ridley has made the entire ‘Alien’ universe smaller and more boring. And the "aliens” not really even aliens anymore.

This is why the Prometheus series of films died after 2 confused and muddled films, despite Ridley originally talking about doing 3 or 4. Covenant bombed, and the studio balked.

We would have been far better off with Blomkamp’s Alien 5 ideas, than this Engineer mess.

I think the black goo is literally there way of continuing procreating their own species, and thus is treated with holy reverence. If you look closely you never can a distinguished female sex or if their is one the difference is negligible. Perhaps long ago through their own meddling or something else entirely they lost their ability to naturally procreate. Personally I think they took their whole creator god persona to whole new level, and made it so that is how they continue their own species through literal genetic seeding rather than natural breeding. I believe the purpose of the black is literally this tool and thus has a central place in their religion if they even have one and their society.

I think the engineers looked different because they couldn't afford or didn't want to pay for the special effects for a whole planet of engineers. That's about it.

Makes no sense. On a lifeless planet the would be no breathable atmosphere. Yet they were breathing no problem. Also that would make their species over 3 billion years old which is not likely.

So many people shit on Prometheus in general, while I love this movie to bits and I think it's getting so much bad rep for no reason. Of course there were things that didn't play out well, but I think that's because of studio's involvement in it.

Since the first time I watched it, I knew that these Dudes weren't exactly The - Diplomatic sort of their Species. They looked/seemed more Militant, more focused; than what you'd expect From a Normal Encounter.

I think the planet David went to and destroyed the inhabitants isn't the engineer home world its a plant creatated by the engineers the inhabitants were created in there image like humans .

I think the planet of engineers that was destroyed was actually not engineers as they seem dumb compared to space jockeys or the space jockeys are genetically enhanced for space travel… I’m more leaning towards them being lesser beings as they looked to the sky’s in warship.

Riddly Scott is extremely creative, and an absolutely horrible writer at the same time.

Many of the concepts in his universe don't work, at all. His understanding of human motivations leading to actions, is not reflective of how humans would act in many situations.

Highly intelligent, space faring people... absolutely would not walk into a giant cave of alien eggs, and get anywhere near them. Scott writes these super-educated, space-explorers; who then violate every single basic safety concern, and make some of the worst possible decisions in the situations they find themselves in.

I really want some justification on how David the Android, somehow managed to figure out how to speak the Engineer language; but also was unable to predict the Engineers behaviors. In order to make the proper translation in a language, culture must be understood to the extent that contextual meanings could be connected to whatever "words" the language utilized. There's no way David would have been able to recreate the correct sounds to be understood by the Engineer, without understanding It's context, for references in It's terminology.

How do you understand the concept of good/evil, without references to what behaviors are understood to fall into either category?

In order to speak the language, they would have to understand Engineer cultural references to a minimum necessary extent, that they would also be able to predict It's behavioral reactions to many concepts.
