Interested to see if your batteries will work with Redarc Manager, etc in a new Zone van
ОтветитьIf a thermal runaway occurs, in my opinion, it makes absolutely no difference where the battery is located, your caravan is toast. Even if they managed to extinguish it, would you really want it back after it has been flooded with water?? Having said that, I love your products guys and your philosophy, it's frustrating that so many people have no concept of discharge and recharge rates and fall into the trap of installing a system that cannot be adequately replenished to suit the loads attached.
With the sodium ion I'm intrigued to know more about the cycle voltages you mentioned and potential AC and DC charging options?
Need more info on this new battery, what is the usable capacity? You mentioned less than Lithium, but how much less? Also does the output voltage drops as the state of charge drops?
ОтветитьThe document states Lithium 'Ion' not Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO 4) i see so many people commenting on 'lithium" as a blanket product when Ion and LiFePO4 are different chemistries and have different safety levels. Bruce I know your a smart guy, care to comment?
ОтветитьLithium Ion is different from Lifepo4.
Lithium Ion batteries like those in EVs are prone to thermal runaway. They cannot be extinguished, so the fire authorities want to be able to move them away if the RV/Caravan is unable to be moved due to damage.
Lithium can be installed inside an RV, it just needs to vent outside. $5 vent seems like a better option than replacing batteries with an untested chemistry.
ОтветитьHere is something the whole caravan world does not want to hear.
As somebody that has worked with all sorts of batteries for over 40 years I will tell you this.
It is utter stupidity to put ANY battery inside a caravan, THE worst place to put a battery in under a bed..
ALL batteries should be adequately vented and drained to the outside air.
There is no such thing as a competly sealed battery.
ALL batteries will under certain circumstances vent flamable, toxic or corrosive material.
All batteries under certain fault conditions will burn, rupture or explode.
All batteries should be mounted in a separate compartment, accessable only from the outside and vented to the outside and Specifically designed to deal with the risks well known in industry.
The only safety issue difference with the various lithium battery types is that they burn much more fiercely than other types and they are utterly dependent on the complex battery management working.
No lithium batterys in the living space, so that would included laptops, tablets and moblies then right????
ОтветитьDo you know what happens when pure Sodium is exposed to Water?!
ОтветитьI haven't heard of a plethora of lithium batteries spontaneously combusting inside of RV's or 4x4's? Do you have any stats?
ОтветитьThis information is incorrect lithium batteries can be under bed, couch tunnel boot if completely segregated, sealed and vented.
ОтветитьSo they’re still ok in a battery box stored in a car?
ОтветитьHi can you tell me how I find out the new laws
ОтветитьI’ve read all the ADR rules including the AS/NZS 3001.2:2022 and have come to the conclusion that these rules are nothing more than a protection racket for the Australian battery and battery installation industry. The companies that were on the steering committee had a financial interest in aligning these rules to maximise and protect their profits. The rules are opaque enough to confuse the average Joe and serious enough to attract every fear mongering vendor in Australia to convince you into buying their solutions.
ОтветитьVery cool BUT look at the price.... Too expensive at this time to be any sort of solution to this stupid new law.
ОтветитьThis is bullshit!
