Just got a 2016 Rav4 and loving it.
ОтветитьLove your work Scotty 👍🇦🇺
ОтветитьAutomatic transmissions have valves. Manual transmissions have real gears.
ОтветитьSo what's the verdict? Should I get a CVT or not?
ОтветитьI watched this twice and still don't know what you're talking about. I had to look in the comments to get the intended message,
"Buy an older, RAV 4." Ok. Thank you.
I rented a 2023 Toyota Corolla hatchback for four months in Alaska – worst transmission ever. The car had a severe delay (lag) when taking off from a stop. Always felt vague, and this car only had a few miles on it when I first rented it. I've never been so happy to return home to 'Roberta,' my 2000 Chevrolet 5.3L V8 4x4 Suburban. With nearly 300,000 miles on the odometer, my only fears are the drunks, dopes and ding-dongs...
ОтветитьI want to know your daily coffee consumption. You crack me up. Praise the Lord, I got the LAST year CRVs do not have CVTs! 😀
ОтветитьNever buy new anything unless you have so much money you don't care
ОтветитьScotty, Toyota and Ford hybrids have eCVT transmission. Not quite the same as CVT. I sold a 2009 Camry hybrid with over 260k miles. Transmission has never been issue with that car. Piston rings failure was only issue.
Also, currently still have 2010 Ford fusion hybrid 195k+ miles still going strong. No piston ring issues and with a similar eCVT transmission.
False. look up bmw 330e engine pancaked to electric motor and then to a regular zf8 gearbox
ОтветитьScotty , I am a 60 year old woman , who grew up with A Body Cars ( 72' Monte Carlo's , Chevelle's, and Pontiacs) ♥ I Love You , and highly respect Your knowledge !!! Thanks for all the great video's Scotty !!!!! Currently driving a 2000 Lexus GS 300 Platinum Edition with 230 K , I have had her for 12 years and 2nd owner :)
ОтветитьToyota schill !!!!! No doubt you’re on their payroll…….
ОтветитьYou’re saying there are only automatic and cvt/ecvt, what about Robotic/robotised ones? In some countries very many cars have robot transmissions
Ответитьim over 62 years old and i wont to travel all over the USA, what is the best most reliable vehicle to buy cheap, im on a small budget,
ОтветитьOn RAV 4 what about injector engines. I had mine serviced and it spit and sputtered, backfired from the dealer. They said that was normal!! What kind of wonderful car was that! 2015!
ОтветитьWho can we send an email to alerting manufacturers that we hate CVTs.
ОтветитьOK, I stopped at seven minutes. Scotty seems to have stopped working on cars. The Toyota CVT's are really good ones. The have been used on the Prius for so many years, and you just do not hear about problems with them. And Toyota has taken the knowledge gained from the Prius and applied that knowledge to Camry's and Corrollas. They have been doing this for a few years now. And they are fine. The Rav4 has had a few problems, but Toyota seems to have them fixed now. I certainly agree that they are not 'heavy duty' transmissions, but they are proving themselves to be very good, like you would expect from Toyota and Lexus. They are certainly lasting as long as 'regular' transmissions in the Toyota line. While I have heard some ill things about the Subaru CVT's, my mother and father have those CVT's in their Foresters and both have over 200k miles on them and they have NEVER had any issues with them. Obviously, two is not a very huge sampling, but they seem to be all right.... But neither the Prius nor the Forester and going to be hauling a 24 ft 6,000lb trailer across the country on your summer vacation. You get a Tundra or Sequoia for that....
ОтветитьIN MY OPINION AND EXPERIENCED...MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS FAR BETTER THAN AUTO...BEC. MANUAL LESS GAS CONSUMPTION....AND IF U WANT TO DRIVE LIKE FAST AND THE FURIOUS...U CAN HAVE BETTER RPM.
Ответить❤
ОтветитьHi, Please note that an eCVT is entirely different than a CVT. Agreed, a traditional CVT is belt-drive car with variable diameter sheaves. Horrible and unreliable. Toyota hybrid drive does not have CVT's. They use a planetary gear set with two motors. A beautifully-elegant engineering solution and incredibly reliable.
ОтветитьCVT is the future
ОтветитьWhich year is this ? This toyata rav4
ОтветитьBased on transmission alone, which would be a better used ICE Camry to get, a XV50 generation one or the current XV70 one? Thanks in advance.
ОтветитьI love 5 speed stick shift. The only reason I ever bought a car or truck with an automatic transmission is because my current or past girlfriends can't drive a car with a standard transmission and unwilling or afraid to learn. If I ever get another car it'll have a stick shift.
ОтветитьDude needs to retire...if he's retired already...good for him.
ОтветитьI got burnt once and never again with a Nissan 2011 Cube Cvt fail at 106,000 miles plus two CVT fluid drained & refill! In 2018 a factory rebuild cost me $3500! My wife always had Rav 4 2008 now a 2019 Rav 4 never had any trans problems.
Ответитьwould be cool if he addressed the topic as described in the description of his video...
ОтветитьWe have a 2014 RAV4. We changed the "lifetime" fluid at 100K miles. We now almost have 200K miles. And will be changing the fluid again at 200K miles. Note, to change the fluid in these things isn't cheap. Not as simple as a simple drain and refill like on the dipstick toyota transmissions in previous years. With that said, it can be done for under $350. And money well spent. This is the last generation of "old" Toyota as I call it. Everything from 2018 onwards is different....
ОтветитьManual transmission is the only transmission.
ОтветитьI’m tired after watching your hands.
Ответитьwhat Suburua do you like for the price?
ОтветитьDude. Do you know where your camera is? Look at it! 😂
ОтветитьYou seem to forget the Transmission filter maintenance, does it not have one, and wouldnt that be much more involved?
ОтветитьWhat do you think of Kia Sorento 2.4l 4 cylinder engine, got 166000 kms on it?!
ОтветитьMy 2015 Rav4 has 650K miles and running strong. Oil change every 3K miles.
ОтветитьI Wish Hondas did Instead of the CVT. 😢
ОтветитьI've had a '15 & '18 & 22 Subaru Outback all with CVT tranny's. Never had a lick of problem with any of them. 153K miles & 138K miles and current on has 37K miles in just over a year.
Ответитьeveryone drink = every time Scotty says "transmission"
ОтветитьIs it really necessary to gesticulate so much? he looks like he is either italian or has Parkinsons....
ОтветитьWait should standard transmissions have their trans fluid changes too?
ОтветитьToyota Highland - The worst suv to buy in North America. Guaranteed to be stolen. Poor security protection. Outdated drive train vs. Europe's. And 2 year wait list to purchase. And un-enforceable purchase contract price.
Ответитьpretty sure the prius transmission has no belts like most CVTs. Isn't it just a planetary gearset?
ОтветитьThere should classical music background on all this videos. His hands move fast, so it must be Beethoven.
ОтветитьThis is why I went with a Mazda. They use old school 20th century style transmissions
ОтветитьI've been saying it for a long time now; there's no such thing as "lifetime" transmission fluid. What Toyota meant is that when the fluid goes bad and burns up your transmission, that's the lifetime of your transmission, and if you don't replace the trans, that's also the lifetime of your vehicle
ОтветитьI have a 2018 Honda CR-V LX model with a CVT transmission and have ran a 165,000 miles with no problems.
ОтветитьIve seeen a ton of cvt transmissions go over 300k and still not break. Toyota prius is a good example
Ответить
