Can you please tell me if I can’t get MacBook Air 13 M1 with 16gb ram, would be ok for a student to get base model??? Or it’s not a wise idea ?

If you give people the power to reach moon and then give them an upgraded power to go few hundred miles beyond moon, then no one will choose the latter, especially if the former comes at a better price. M1 is just too good for everyone. M2 is better but the difference is just not worth the money and time.

I purchased a 13” MacBook M1 Pro in late 2020 and I absolutely kicked myself for not upgrading the drive. So a year later, I bought an M2 MacBook Pro 13 inch, because I like the little touchscreen bar, and I upgraded it as much as I could. The second MacBook cost me like $3000, but the first MacBook Pro was on sale for $1000 and I got free AirPods and an Apple Watch I think for free. Honestly, the M1 MacBook Pro, even though it only had 256GB of space, is the best deal I’ve ever gotten in my life on any technology.

5 months later, there are no M1 minis used anywhere, used/‘renewed’ when they appear hover ~500…& 1 month after announcement for the M2 mini, Amazon is SOLD OUT of the base model

Better start disabling software updates

There's a huge flaw in this logic - Apple will only offer software updates and security support for 7-8 years. The M1 chips already came out 2-3 years ago. So yes the M2 costs a few hundred dollars more, but you're going to get an extra 2-3 years worth of software support for it. So you can either choose to save money during the purchase or to save money in the long term.

I bought an M2 MBP 16” purely for maximum future-proofing, but an M1 would have sufficed just fine. I’m fortunate to have a good income, so the price difference doesn’t bother me. If the M2 never existed, I would still be blown away by the M1. The extra 30% performance bump of the M2 is just a cherry on top.

You have to appreciate Apple for not artificially holding back on its tech.

I have a 2020 macbook air 13 inch 1.1 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5. I find with little things like having two tabs open or running testing software on my computer my fan comes on all the time and it is very annoying apple can't find anything wrong with it. So I'm thinking of upgrading to the MacBook pro m2 16 inch. My reasoning is I won't have to buy another labtop for a very long time but is jumping to something so big overkill?

apple offers a $510 trade in for the M1 air base, I think it's a deal to upgrade to the M2 for the design and magsafe

I need some assistance if possible. I have a early 2015 Mac pro with only 8GB. My situation is this. I Dj and I also want to use my Mac for some video edditing and I would like to upgrade and most videos that I have seen still said that the M1 pro is still the best, however Apple site only sell the Mac air with the M1 chip and not enought ports, at the same time I don't want to break the bank. What would you recommend? Any help will be appriciated

I was using MacBook Pro 2013 Intel i7 , 256 SSD and 8 Gb Ram for 10 years. I paid around $2,240 USD. I bought this in in India from an Apple reseller. It was slowing down for me and the battery needed to be replaced and it kept heating up. It still works.

After watching this video, I just upgraded to M1 MacBook Pro 1tb, 16 Gb ram. I paid $1,633 in Dubai. I got it from Amazon. Thanks MKBHD.

At the moment of this comment what do you guys think is the best decision to make. Wait for M3 in September if it launches or just buy the M1?

I just recently got the M1 Air. It's an amazing device. My first Mac, though I've had iPhones and iPads in the past. Amazing that an almost 3-year old laptop is still selling and actually performing really good for its price.

The difference in price vs. M2 is just too much, especially for us third world folks. We were really screwed by forex and strong USD.
