Why do Cats Drool

I currently live with a cat who I dub the "Beethovan" of cats... because he shakes his head and makes it rain every time!

We have an extremely skittish senior kitty we adopted when she was ten & in poor health - it took years of her being safe and well-fed with us, plus figuring out the right diet for her sensitive tummy in order to get her to be fully relaxed and chill so I absolutely don't think it's an overstatement: it is totally THE BEST FEELING when I can see that she's relaxed around us, showing her tummy, sleeping soundly and snoring, letting us brush her, climbing on me when I go to sleep. Cats are the best <3

I have a new kitten, she drools on my face…..yuck It’s when she is settling in for snuggles usually while I am trying to sleep. Love her, but boy oh the drool is killing me.

When my family Oliver started drooling in a car ride I got nervous that he was sick. Turns out he is extremely car sick.

We adopted a kitten that had been abandoned by its Mommy at only 4 weeks old. Her namer is Amber Lynn and she loves to knead and drool on blankets when I pet her. She is 16 now and she still does this. I consider it a sign that she really trusts me and loves me. ❤️

My cat drools on car rides lasting more than 5 minutes. Also multiple fragrant chocolate soft serve from the distal end of the alimentary canal on an hour ride. We travel with a litter box in a pop up enclosure with room for a big long hair cat. He always needs a bath upon arrival at the destination. We are all stressed. Is there a transdermal tranquilizer for the cat?

My cat was a stray who decided she was moving in with me on Christmas Eve. Next day, she really did think it was Christmas when she saw me taking a big plate of Christmas Dinner, with all the trimmings, into the livingroom room. She came to sit beside me. Her chin resting on my arm, as her enormous round eyes never left that delicious plate piled high with Turkish and chipolata sausages 😺. And, for some strange reason, she was drooling all over my arm 🤣. Such happy memories.

From that day on, my Maggie's favourite food was always Turkey; preferably, sitting on my dinner plate.

I pet my cat at night when he’s on my bed and there will just be a big puddle, I don’t mind this since it not even close to how bad it is with a dog but I didn’t want him to be sick or anything

LOL I awaken every morning baptized in drool by my Maine Coon siblings, Mitu (me! too!) and her defensive lineman brother, Nomi (no! me!) as they rearrange my body parts to their particular liking

I remember being super allergic to cats (like REALLY allergic) but for some reason the reaction is stronger for some cats than others (for some, I won't have any reaction at all while others kill me) I was at my friend's house for a party and his cat just rubbed his face all over mine while I was sleeping. This cat drooled a lot and the next day, I had red and itchy marks on my face/neck/shoulders... they took weeks to go away and fr, it was hell. (So.... beware :') )

I adopted a semi-feral cat two weeks ago and she just flops around on me and drools and on one hand I appreciate the affection because how cool is that, brand new cat just in love with you, but also it's so gross 😂I couldn't even kiss a partner and now this cat just drips on me uuughhh.

I had a Manx that would sit near me and stare right into my eyes. When moving closer she we drool and let me press my forehead against hers. She would sit there as long as I would, purring. She was very sweet.

my cat has never drooled....until she and my husband had a disagreement about her being kept indoors against her strongly expressed wish to go out, we were trying to protect a duck family . After a spell of cat wrestling, there may have been a little unintentional rough handling he got bitten and she hid in a corner drooling . Took some time for both to recover and from her body language it was clear the cat clearly knew the situation was really bad. All fine now, you'll be glad to know.

Do they also drool when they have a tooth problem? Since she was a street cat with lots of genetic mutations, my cat had a problem that her own body attacked her roots of the teeth, they were causing the teeth to look fine kntil they fell out with no roots on them any more. She was an ecessive drooler and once all teeth were removed, she drooled when she was making cookies on my chest. She was with mefor the most beautiful 16 years, we could have. She went peacefully at home on my chest after a few days of not being able to eat or drink, we were at the vet with her, and tried all sorts of appetite enhancers, her bloodwork was o.k. no apparent disease detected, so the vet told us, this is not painful for her, it was the natural process going on, and we shold keep her comfortable, support her with cuddles and keeping her warm, because she was always cold in her last week. She is missed for all her quirkiness and her loud meows.
