This game goes all the way back to 1940, have you made a car from that time already? I know it sounds like you just get less options, but it also has worse technology making pretty much all quality lower by default. It's quite a challenge to get an engine over 500hp without quality sliders

btw as a gpu upgrade I would recommend at least a gtx 1660 up to a gtx 1070 ti or even a gtx 1080. you don't need a new cpu.

High quality engines, suspension and other components are quite common for military vehicles, as cost, while still relevant, isn't exactly market driven either. Then again, complete turd components are also common, at least compared to the desired usage. Also, automatic transmissions are very, very common post (and during) WWII to reduce training requirements, at least in non heavy transport vehicles.
