I have always enjoyed your video but today, you out did yourself. If I could have given this video a like, (love really), for every tip, I would have. Best, Jenna
ОтветитьAwesome🥳
ОтветитьLove it!! Thank you
ОтветитьGreatational hacks@🎉
ОтветитьFrom watching your novelty scrappy/sherpa quilt I took special notice of your rulers...the way you hold them. I searched far and wide for the finger holders and could not find them...spent over 2 hours. Then I opened this Hacks & Tips and close to the end I found them!!! I have them here and will be using them. And for the scissor hack...same thing. I discovered your channel this morning and I now have 2 fabulous hacks to make my life easier. Oh, and the scallop trick was fantastic. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!!
ОтветитьMy grandmother: when i started in high school she seen me sewing and said wait ran home game back and hung up my scissor just like that and said no no!!! Your going to wast so much precious time looking for thous and flipping my pedal up said down glued the shelf grip to the peddle flipped it around backwards and said this is the right way not to hurt your ankle lol
ОтветитьI use a quarter for the screw on my presser foot and it works great. I can really tighten/loosen the screw without any effort. I store it in my accessories kit for my sewing machine.
ОтветитьGirl! You are right on. Thank you for all of these. So real!
ОтветитьI just got my right angle ratchet. Thanks so much for that great hack. You solved my problem.
ОтветитьGood tips! I tried the backwards petal trick and to me it feels backwards and wrong so ends up being harder for me.
ОтветитьI've put little magnets on my sewing machine so that I can put stuff like needles and scissors on it. 😊
ОтветитьYour hacks are keepers. It is hard to choose which one I like best.
ОтветитьThanks so much for these great tips!
ОтветитьThe scissors one is my favourite.
ОтветитьI have a little sewing machine, but I will have a full-sized one soon enough.I am always searching for my scissors like crazy.I have multiple..and four more are on their way to me ad I type this.I could use that hack for storing scissors on a hook on the sewing machine.
ОтветитьYou have given me a reason to keep the straws I pick up from Starbucks for my juice but don't always use.Thank you for that!
ОтветитьThank you so much I am compiling, hacks and tricks like this to share with my Quilting group!
ОтветитьLove these sewing hacks .
ОтветитьThis won't work for me because my foot cuts the thread . Other wise great idea.
Ответитьwhere.can you buy that handy little screw driver
ОтветитьI have acointhat came with my sewing machine and it works great, so does a dime
ОтветитьExcellent tips for me , as a beginner. Thanks
ОтветитьI love your hacks and already use a couple similar ones but got one or two new ones from your video. One I would like to share is to fill a plastic jar with BB's and use that for your pattern/ruler weights. They hold really well!
ОтветитьWhere have you been my whole sewing life!! This was by far the best video hack I’ve ever seen!! Thank you so much for sharing 💗💗 now I need to go back and find your name lolol
ОтветитьI love your quilting hacks... do you have any new ones?
ОтветитьI have been placing my foot pedal as you showed us and I had my doubts. Turns out that I love this. Helpful and easy.
ОтветитьUse a hair flat iron for pressing all those small items when you are sewing. Fast to heat up, easy to use, and no need for a pressing board. I've been using mine for years ... im useless when it comes to styling my hair, but i wouldn't be without my flat iron! It's great for hems, especially when I'm easinng in a curved skirt, bias binding when ive turned it over to sew the other side, ribbons, patchwork piecing, applique, and numerous other tasks when you wonder if it's worth getting the iron out for just something small. 😊
ОтветитьI use handbell gloves for FMQ.
Ответить👍 I purchased my right angle screwdriver at Harbor freight 👍
ОтветитьLove this video....especially the project board. I have one that looks awful and I will be fixing that tomorrow!
ОтветитьFor my foot pedal I just hot glue it to my floor but I also screwed some bored to my desk then got glued the pedal on that, say if u had carpet and it doesn't wreck anything
ОтветитьWait.... what bag were you making with the straw hack.
ОтветитьThe screw driver is amazing, a total game changer
ОтветитьLove your tips
ОтветитьLots of comments here are mine:
1. I would not recommend turning your foot pedal backwards because the motion is the same as when we are driving in our car and I don’t want to confuse myself . It would be OK for people who don’t drive. Plus some of us I have the Juki, where we can cut our thread with the heel motion.
2. I use a straw to turn skinny straps right side out. But you can also use one of those loop threaders and pull your string or elastic through casings and straws are not difficult to clean. You can soak them in water and then you can use a pipe cleaner you can get a whole bag for $1.25 at dollar tree
3. that screwdriver is also a ratchet screwdriver. You don’t have to hold the black knob. I saw Joy Bernhardt using this over a year ago and now I can’t find it lol and it’s orange so you think it would be easy to find.
4. i’ve been using a scrap piece of wood as my wooden clapper for about two years now but I like the fact of you putting a handle on it so that I might do soon.
5. I watched a video from Donna Jordan of Jordan Fabrics probably five years ago and she’s always been using dumbbell weights on her rulers. However, if you purchase the Martelli rulers, you wouldn’t have to do this yet It is nice sometimes or sometimes there is a reason that you want to see through your ruler. But Tracy spending $4 on 2 dumbbells not necessary, I just used a $.50 brick paver from Home Depot and it’s a lot better because it’s flat and it covers more surface than that pink dumbbell.
6. I’ve been using the garden gloves from the dollar tree for a couple years now. And a couple of months ago I treated myself to professional gloves I forgot their name it’s from some lady in Brazil.
7. Oh, that is too hilarious. Your marker idea to teach yourself free motion quilting.🤣
8. Fortunately, for me, my sewing machine sits on a table that is attached to a cabinet and I have used those command hooks to hang my scissors. Definitely have seen this one before.
Some people have them hanging around their neck
My tools always seem to hit the floor when I'm at my machine. Seam ripper, snips, you name it. Buttons. Pin cushion. I'm looking under my feet every 10 minutes. I'm thinking the pool noodle (or maybe pipe insulation, it's s little smaller) at the front edge will help. You have inspired a new hack of your hack! Tell your mom...
ОтветитьOh my gosh I am blown away. I will share this with all my sewing and quilting friends! I have been sewing for over 60 years and quilting for 30+ and I have never seen so many truly new tips in one video! And of course I love your motto, enough talking already! Videos with lots of unnecessary talking drive me crazy.
ОтветитьI have just watched many of your videos and where have you been all my quilting life❤ I have early arthritis so many of your “hacks” save my joint wear and tear. Just amazing! I love how you’re always giving positive credit to others you’ve learned from!
ОтветитьIf not mentioned yet: The right angle screw driver is called a ratchet and should be found in all possible variations in a hardware store..
ОтветитьI bought a shower suction handle to put on my plastic measuring cutting tool. It doesn’t move.
ОтветитьI enjoy your special video..
ОтветитьSew many tips I have never heard of, very good!
ОтветитьThe first baby rag quilt I ever made gave me shin splints. I just turned the foot pedal around and haven't looked back!!! I stand and sew sometimes too! Thanks for these tips!
ОтветитьThank u so much
I have trouble with my legs
An what a difference it made to turn the sewing paddle backwards
Thank
U
Breadbag plastic squares (bumpy edges trimmed w/ nail clipper) are a fav tool w/many uses: pressing open seams, taped to sew-guide cord, collar-clip fabric layers.
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьWho won your quilt
ОтветитьI love all your havks
ОтветитьThese are BY FAR the BEST tips, tricks, and hacks I have ever seen! Thank you SEW MUCH! (See what I did there!? 😉😁)
ОтветитьAn even cheaper way to make portable design boards. I used cardboard covered with sticky back felt. My cardboard was recycled from cereal boxes, layer cake packing - doesn't have to be super thick, just not flimsy. Stick the felt on and you're ready to go.
