and the PRICES! quartz is so unbelievably common. you can find bowls of quartzes in gift shops. i bought a piece of amethyst on a cord when i was like 14, it was a bit smaller than my thumb. i dont remember the exact price, but considering it was just sitting in a giant tray full of other medium sized samples like that it must not be very precious lol. and not even just quartzes. i have a necklace covered in lapis lazuli pebbles, which is probably cheaper than most other things since theyre tiny tumbled samples, but it was from a museum gift shop. these stones are very common and not expertly crafted like jewelry, they should not be $85
