Great call with Freakings! You're the one who turned me onto them in the first place, and now I own all 3 of their albums. Just frenetic from start to finish - just the way I like my thrash!

Hey Scott, hope to see you continue this series soon. I thought I knew a lot of thrash bands, but now I see I was only scratching the surface. I've added about ten bands I'd never heard of before to my collection (at least bands starting with "A-F";) because of these videos. Take care brother.

hey Scott love your site and your vids! I discovered many bands who've become favorites of mine like striker.

you should check out my favorite of all time, X japan! in its home country, they pretty much have metallica-level popularity! hell, their album silent jealousy was number 1 on the Japanese charts for a long time! their bassist taiji sawada worked on loudness ' s smoking self-titled album.

blue blood and the aforementioned silent jealousy are their best albums. their style is unique. like, it's speed/thrash metal but with lots of neo classical influences thanks to the backgrounds of drummer/songwriter yoshiki and guitarist hide ( in fact it sounds more like classical music than yngwie or the other shredders.) the only downside is that they have piano ballads, due to yoshiki 's love of them and traumatic life, and it only increased in their later years as injuries fucked yoshiki's body up. oh, and the singer has a weird, funny voice, but you get use to it.

check them out when you have the time! especially their 30 minute long epic art of life. it may be long, but it never gets boring!

cheers!

Great vid. Another "F" Thrash band i would've thrown in there is Forte, from Oklahoma. Their first album "Stranger Than Fiction" is a power/thrash gem, features killer guitar work, amazing power metal vocals, and great drumming. Recommend.

I screamed when that Forbidden fell to the ground ! Hope nothing happened to it.
I have a herniated disc in my neck that pushes into my nerves, it causes numbness, tingling and pain in both hands - so I drop things ALL THE TIME ! I'm usually OVER cautious with my music, but once I dropped Ozzy's Bark at the Moon, it hit the bottom of a chair and it scratched the heck out of it. I figured, well, why cry over spilt Ozzy -haha ! (I ended up replacing that LP though)

My first installment in this series... I'm gonna have to work backwards, haha! Glad i saved 'em, though, till I was in a more 'metal' mindset than I was when you got started. So I'm gonna have to give Faith or Fear a chance one of these days--between the band name and the weak cover, I never gave 'em the time of day back when they were current. So much stuff here I don't know, it's humbling, haha!

Great choices, man! I winced when I saw that CD topple to the floor. I was imagining it hitting the hardwood that I've got in my place! Glad you were more fortunate than I would have been ;) Fatality is a band that I've not heard of but I'm digging that clip you threw in. I'm definitely gonna try and track that one down. Later!

Forbidden a good band, i love the Forbidden Evil album, i have a japenese reissue of it. Flotsam and Jetsam's debut is some great speed/power/thrash (i suppose) hehe. that Faust demo sounds great in the background, sucks that it's in that kind of condition but atleast it still plays and it's great that you were able to get transfered to disc. anyways. great video. take care.

Faust revival! Well done brother, so many of those demos are giving up to the sands of time. I have (had?) Vital Remains first couple of cassette demos. They lived and recorded right near-by and we all saw them play at local dives when they were just getting started. Plenty of new to me stuff to go check out and Professor F ran it all down with authority! - Lj \,,/

I'm glad you mentioned Fear Of God! Great band thrash or not!
Forced Entry's "As Above So Below" is hard to find. I managed to get a copy. The song "Were D***s" is hilarious. lol
Of all the bands you showed I did not know of, Freakings was my fav. Thanks!

Hey Scotty,
What a collection once again. You have so many metal bases covered. I remember seeing Flotsam and Jetsam in the eighties but I forgot who I saw them with but I knew it was at the Channel nightclub in South Boston. After researching my ticket stubs they played as a backup to King Diamond. I was in a metal band at the time and I remember we all went to see them. I will post a few photos from my metal days on FB soon. Thanks for sharing them all~

my fave thrash series continues. agreed, doomsday is far and away flotsams best imo. have a banzai pressing of that gem. Man, that Freakings sounds pretty badass. Ok, I totally guessed that forbidden were going to be the focus of the mini spotlight at the end. I gotta say, I like distortion but  the version u showed  ive never seen. I gotta revisit that album. great job as usual, cheers man

I actually fell asleep during their set the last time I saw Flotsam live, haha. It was the 95 or 96 Megadeth tour. The first two bands were Korn and Fear Factory, who were both new to the scene and did amazing sets, then Flotsam played right before Megadeth. Two songs in Flotsam had me bored to tears...just not sounding good at all, so i want to the back of the amphitheater, laid on the grass and took a 30 minute nap. After that i fought my way to the front of the crown just in time for Megadeth. Amazing show, but Flotsam were not on their game. What's worse it that they were playing for their home town crowd.

Cool video. Speaking of Industrial, the brainchild of Celldweller, Klayton, brought back Circle of Dust this year, and he is remastering all of his old albums. He re-re-release his self-titled album this past Friday, and it sounds fresh. Also, he release a new song called “Contagion.” That song has the good old obscure, dark, gritty, thrash sound. Check it out! 😃

What's up Scott. That song from Fatality sounds like it came right out of 1983. That opening riff sounds almost exactly like metal militia from Metallica. I also hear an early Hallows eve influence. Love the raw sound, a band I definitely want to check out. Forbidden and Flotsam and Jetsam are also in my top ten favorite thrash bands. Thrash metal with melody and clean vocals is my favorite type of thrash. Great stuff! Anyway, hope you had a great weekend, thrash til death! \m/
