Novablasts are hard to find in canada
Ответить+
ОтветитьRewatched this video trying to decide which shoe to choose from the Hoka Mach 5 or the NB Rebel v3. Currently using the Novablast 3 and Endorphin Pro 3, lol. I had the rebel v2's previously, and they seem to bottom out on me after about 100 miles. After we rewatching this, I may end up going with the Mach 5 if I can find them on sale, thank you as always!
ОтветитьAs my Sacony endorphin speed, original is really worn out. Can’t find any new version twos didn’t like the threes I’m debating between these in the rebel 3’s.
When you did the comparison on, I think it was the last version of both of these you kind of said you can’t be wrong either way they can. I should buy both, but that might cause a divorce in that’s expensive also.
good vid as usual man
ОтветитьIve been using Nike pegasus shoes my whole life. I feel like as the years pass the worse the quality gets. The shoe was also very narrow, didnt have great ventilation, had mediocre cushion, and would tear easily. I just wanted to try something new and sent it with the $140 Mach 5's. Its bizzare too me how comfortable, lightweight, and roomy those shoes are. The only "down side" you pointed out was an upside for me.
ОтветитьFor decades I have used Shoe-Goo on my shoes and the outsoles never wear out. Over 3000 miles ony blade outsole as well.
ОтветитьYou're such a shill and you're clueless on shoe technology. This video is essentially a free advert for HOKA, full of misinformation intended to dupe the viewer.
For those that want the facts the Profly midsole that HOKA uses for this shoe is EVA based. According to laboratory tests conducted by Dow Chemical, EVA foam permanently, key word permanently, lose 25% of their resiliency after just 100,000 foot strikes. Dow's test put various foams, including EVA, through a 100,000 dynamic loading stress test at 40°C. The typical runner takes about 39,000-60,000 steps during a 26.2 mile marathon. So 100,000 loads is the equivalent of 50 miles of running. After the loading cycle was completed the researchers measured the recovery percentage of the foams at various intervals following the loading test. The first interval was 0.01 hours (a few seconds) and recovery measurements were conducted all the way through 800 hours post loading test. For those wondering, 800 hours is the equivalent of 33 days. At 0.01 hours EVA's Recovery Percentage was 68%. In other words the dynamic loading test had caused the EVA foam to lose 32% of its volume. The foam had compressed and compressed foam has less bounce and cushion. At 800 hours, again 33 days, the EVA foam's Recovery Percentage had barely changed, measuring only 72%. That represents a permanent loss of 28%.
Thes results apply to all EVA foams, especially Profly and ProFly+. After just 50 miles of use a pair of Machs will lose their bounce. The evidence is incontrovertible. The outsole and it's lack of traditional rubber is the least of your concerns. It's the midsole and the substandard compounds that HOKA still relies on for most of their performance shoes.
Thankfully, this year HOKA has finally taken steps to increase the quality of their running shoes by introducing three PEBA based models to their running lineup, the Carbon Rocket X2, the Mach X, and the Cielo.
Unlike EVA, new premium foams such as PEBA recover to 90% of their volume following Dow's 100,000 dynamic loading stress test.
Is it comfortable for HM bro?!
ОтветитьDoes the rocker in the front end makes you feel that the drop is more than 5mm?
ОтветитьI'm wanna to try these. They look fresh.... I have Torrent 2 which I really like in USA 11.5..... should I go the same size in these or half a size less? Great video bro.....
Ответить250 miles?
I am currently at 1k+ miles with my vomero 16
I am considering to get a pair I saw on discount but I am leaning towards the Novablast 3 too.. the difference in price is not much but the colorway is making me doubt, haha
ОтветитьI wish new balance would take the 1080 and make it more comparable to this. I loved my 1080s but the sole was really REALLY squishy. I put the mach 5s on and I was like "WHAT. CAN RUNNING SHOES BE THIS GOOD?!" Lol. I actually like them way way better than my Tecton X. I sorta hate my Tecton x actually. It feels too firm and too long.
ОтветитьHey Mike, can I pair Hoka Mk5 with Nike Peg 39 ? I am just thinking about 5mm drop in Hoka to going for 10mm in Nike. Is that a good idea ? Or another way to put it out is do people rotate or mix shoes based on heel drop sizes being same? Thanks
ОтветитьFor how much it is and how long it can last ther worth it
ОтветитьWhat’s more versatile/stable for someone training in the military? Mach 5 or Novablast 3
ОтветитьGreat review 👌🏽
Ответитьa new shoe every 250miles?? LOL any shoes to buy which will last well over 1000+? my targets for March 23 and beyond are 100km of running with an extra 260km of walking PER month. what should i buy??
ОтветитьI have 854 km (531 miles) on my Mach 4 (which have also no outsole) and still enjoy running in them without issues. But I never used them offroad.
ОтветитьWhat are your top 5?
ОтветитьThis guy trying to be a ***** by saying I know you're gonna say something in the comments so he can indirectly persuade us to say something in the comment which what exactly I did right now but this one is gonna be my last comment on your ***** videos
ОтветитьHave anyone tested these, and can compare the width and toebox to the Nike Pegasus 37?
ОтветитьNice shoe. I have one pair of the 5s and three of the 4s. I think I like the 4 version better, ran the Houston Marathon in 4s. I probably am getting 350ish miles a pair so I’m in for the Mach 6!
ОтветитьJack of all trades and master of none. Endo speed 2s are a much better tempo pick plus you get a plate inside
ОтветитьDid these run small as well?
ОтветитьThe way to go on the trails is Torrent 2/3 if you’re into the Mach sensation, NOT speedgoat. Thanks for another great vid Kofuzi!
ОтветитьI have some more miles to go on my pair of Mach 4's, but, I'll definitely be checking version 5 out.
ОтветитьI have done 270 miles in my Mach 4 and they don’t feel the same when I am doing a slow or long run (long easy run for me is just over 10k just under 6m per km). Strangely if I go fast for instance 30s all out or hill repetition max speed, they still feel okay.
However I feel I need to go with the Mach 5 and leave the 4 for walking maybe😅
Just purchased a pair after you compared them to the speedgoat at the end. I have been looking for a road version of that shoe since buying it. Thanks for the recommendation Kofuzi!
ОтветитьDamn I wanted to love these to supplement my Altras. I loved their ride at speed but they really tweak my hips at easy pace - feels like the shoe slants inwards, internally rotating the hip. My hips are cranky so its probably me not the shoe. Too bad though as I liked the shoe otherwise.
ОтветитьI’ve just bought my first pair for £90 in the UK. Looking forward to trying them out.
ОтветитьI am really liking the addition at the end of “also consider” recommendations, and “pairs well with”. Nice Kofuzi!!
ОтветитьIf you are going to pair it why not the duel density Hoka.
ОтветитьI wish I could still buy the Mach 4! I retired mine after 100 mi bc I started getting relentless shin splints
ОтветитьI ran the Mach 4 for over 500 miles on similar terrain as Kofuzi showed it. The traction still pefect. Now I feel the foam comes to and end and the shoe get harder to run. I would consider defenitely the Mach 5 as a successor withe the 4 being a really good abs versatile daily trainer.
ОтветитьDone everything from parkrun to 40 mile ultra in these and absolutely love them,my first pair are over 1000 miles!!! and still feel good
ОтветитьA big advantage of the mach5, the rincon and the carbonX is that all these shoes provide a very good grip on an athletics track (tartan). I own other shoes, like RocketX and endorphin speed 2, that are lousy when the track is wet.
ОтветитьTrying Hoka out for the first time and for Ironman. I'm confused on which shoe I should train in and which shoe I should race in... which shoe I should drink beer out of... all that... I just bought Hoka Mach 5 and and Hoka Bondi X. For Ironman marathons I'd aim anywhere close to 4 hour marathon, so I guess speed shoes aren't as big of a factor because I'm slower? Anyway, wondering if I should switch to Bondi 8 for comfort or consider Hoka Carbon x3 ... or another shoe in their lineup.
ОтветитьI find myself looking for another make of shoe, than the Mach 5. Loved the Mach 4 and I think I prefer it to the 5
ОтветитьDon't cut your hair idol
ОтветитьI ran in it for a couple months and loved it! Afterwards I started running in Xero HFS shoes and loved those even more! Natural is much better for the feet, knees, and hips! Anything over zero drop disguises problems and leads to more injury issues by going with more support and bigger cushioning!
ОтветитьLove the Mach 5s! If I’m stumped on what to wear. I grab these
ОтветитьVery good your new initiative, recommending the utilization of the shoe, alternatives and conpanion.
Thank you.
Great
Nice review!
This shoe might just be my go-to shoe for Easy days.
Dear Kofuzi I would likes to get an opinion from you about the Endorphine pro 3 after 100 Miles.
The sole seems to have wear issues.
I have the Mach 4, but not the 5, however picked up some Novablast 3's, Rebel v3's and Endorphin Pro 3's during the Xmas sales. I feel this video validated my choices 😁
ОтветитьI've just hit 200 miles in mine, and despite a couple of spots where there is some visible wear, I've not had a single issue with slipping on any road surface. The only time I've had any slip was through a local woodland path which was muddy and would have caused any non-trail shoe to slip. Cushioning seems as good as day one, and I still love running in them. I've used them for long runs to intervals and have found them brilliant for everything. Super impressed and would highly recommend them to anyone. The only downside is the fact I have to crank the laces right down to get a snug fit as you say, but that's not a reason to not buy them and I do have rather narrow feet.
ОтветитьGreat review ... as usual 🙂
ОтветитьCustoms tariffs
Remember those fuzzy soles on shoes ? ?
By covering 35-50%? of the bottom sole the manufacturer changed classification to slippers !
Classification is by sole and uppers.
Slipper tariff 7-12% ?
Rubber/plastic soles tariff 30%-
Early 2010s tariff law changed where the material of sole could be different material/ textile- more on Google.
So no those bottom soles aren't by pure design.
