when choosing a container do you need to be concerned with whether or not its food grade/food safe ?
ОтветитьWhen you get material stuck in your hole saw you can use a screwdriver to push it out by sticking it through the sides of the saw.
ОтветитьIt's called a hole saw not a circular saw.
And that's for spacing if you're not adding a third how are you losing growing space? Wouldn't that be better to keep them as far apart as possible?
just saw this but where do I find the follow-up videos?
ОтветитьWhen you drill it you have to drill it counter clockwise then it won’t shatter the plastic
ОтветитьIt's a hole saw 👍🏼
ОтветитьIf you run your cutter backwards, it is much cleaner hole and will not grab and damage the plastic!!
ОтветитьI have to say I thought you were the BBC journalist Louis Theroux... 😂.
Good information. Thanks
The slots in the side of the hole saw allow insertion of a screwdriver to push drilled material out (in this case, the plastic disk).
ОтветитьCan i transition from soil to hydro?
ОтветитьRun the bit in REVERSE and it burns a hole with ZERO tear out!
ОтветитьDo you not use food safe containers/bins?
ОтветитьThese plastic containers are not made of food grade/safe plastics. Isn't it true that the plastic can leak chemicals into the water that is then soaked up by the plants, especially during hot days? I wonder if there are containers made of food safe plastics that can be used.
Ответитьrun drill in reverse to start then forward to cut boo
ОтветитьHelp! I tried this--did everything right, I thought--and only one of my plants is still alive. I am using a grow light for 12 hours per day. Is that too much? Why didn't these plants take off and grow like shown in your video?
ОтветитьTo remove plastic from hole saw put a screw driver through the slot of the hole saw and pry the plastic out. Then you won’t need to remove the bit
ОтветитьI used to use hole saws on a daily basis on metal. You can push the debris out with a screwdriver using the hole on the side of the saw. It’s rare that you really need to remove the drill bit out of the arbor.
ОтветитьThe vents on the side of the hole saw allow you to stick a screwdriver in to push the plastic out of the saw so you don't need to take it off everytime
ОтветитьA bit of dish soap on the 2 inch drill bit should solve the problem. :)
ОтветитьAm I the only one worried about the food safety of the containers?
ОтветитьJust put the screw driver in the slat and pop the plastic out. Start your drill before the serrated bit hits the plastic it's smoother. 🤦♀️
ОтветитьThe bit you're using is technically called a Hole Saw Bit. A trick with them when cutting plastics is to drill the small drill bit in to the material forward (clockwise) until the hole saw hits it, then switch the drill to reverse and drill through the material in reverse. This will cut a much nicer hole, the disk it cuts out should fall off, and it will burn through the plastic instead of the teeth catching on and biting in to it which is what causes the rough hole, cracking, shredding, and splitting in thin materials like these plastic lids.
ОтветитьFYI hydroponics is NOT organic! You're putting chemicals into the water. No chemicals means it's organic. I have a Bachelor's in environmental science and sadly, no one is taught this in real life.
ОтветитьMan, that hole saw tore through the lid real quick on the first one. Looked like 3 revolutions and it was done! Ha!
Ответитьonce you punch through with the bit put the drill in reverse and you'll get a really clean hole. Just make sure the holesaw is really tight
Ответитьare these bins food grade plastic?
ОтветитьMasking tape does the trick.
ОтветитьHole Saw
ОтветитьWhat feeding solution can be used for hydroponics? Can you make your own when supplies start running out from supply issues
ОтветитьWhat’s the circle bit size?
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьIs growing in plastic hazardous to your health?
ОтветитьThose aren't food grade containers and will likely leech chemicals.
ОтветитьSlow your drill down and you wont tare up the lid , And you can clean out the hole saw with a screwdriver thru the hole in the side if the saw .
ОтветитьYes on the reverse drilling, link for your net cups?
ОтветитьThese bins aren't food safe.
ОтветитьI hope you see this. How did this project work out?
ОтветитьOn the smaller thinner totes , place a slab of wood under the lid, it will be easer and cleaner.
ОтветитьThank you so much for showing how to cut the holes and also the tidbits about the lid thickness. 🙏
ОтветитьUse a screw driver
ОтветитьWell explained. Thanks for your time and energy. From Houston,Texas.
ОтветитьHow do I get the drill bit to stay in?
ОтветитьDo the tubs need to be “food safe” and if so, how do you tell?
Ответитьpro tip. Pop those plastic discs out on every hole, instead of letting them build up. Much easier
ОтветитьTape where you want to drill with masking tape!
ОтветитьWow, you're a very angry driller.
ОтветитьWhy wouldn't it work with a tomato
ОтветитьGreat idea MIG. I am trying this today. Love your channel. Thanks for helping us newbies.
ОтветитьA proper timber bit might help you a bit more, too.
