trying to figure out where you pay 15 cents a KWH in SoCal. I'm looking at 36 cents in off-off peak and .55+ plus during peak hours, and I'm just up the coast a few hours.
ОтветитьI fill up my gas F150 in less than five minutes. The Lightening may take all day depending on the charger being used.
ОтветитьOne other factor if one makes long trips is whether one can stay at a hotel or RV park which allows charging. Certainly charging at public stations is going to wipe out most, if not all, the cost advantage.
ОтветитьThere is no way the gas F150 get 20 miles per gallon in the real world mixed city and highway driving. We all know the government test figure of 20 isn't accurate. Using around 15 miles per gallon is more fair for calculation.
ОтветитьThis assumes no charging away from home.
ОтветитьIf you own an EV you better have solar panels at work.
ОтветитьHere is my problem with your post. I am from Idaho now living in Arizona. Most people buy a F150 in these two areas for one of two reasons. Towing and long distance driving. Towing with the F150 is a NIGHTMARE, you did not mention that. Secondly, we drive from northern Arizona to Idaho. There are no charging stations out thru Nevada. In addition. It really does not have the range. And who the hell wants to sit at a charger for God knows how long every 250 miles. You review was actually useless
ОтветитьHow long to the battery last and what does it cost to replace them.
ОтветитьWhat’s cheaper? … running my Honda into the ground for another 10 years
ОтветитьSpending over $50K on a truck is ridiculous, but only getting cloth seats for that price is insane. The profit margin is HUGE for the manufacturers on these things. And reading the comments on this truck or that truck being a "good value" at $65+K is why the manufacturers get away with it!
ОтветитьThose saving totally extinguish once your battery dies in like 5 years.
ОтветитьIf you don't buy a Lariat, and buy a lower model, the price of running the gas vehicle will be a lot better.
ОтветитьA moot point, because I can't afford 70k+ for a vehicle.
ОтветитьWhat about the fires caused by these batteries Ford had fires before they even left the factory. The fire departments can’t put theses fires out. I would hate that happening in my garage and then I have to buy a new house too. I think you definitely have to add that into the cost. Additionally these batteries have a short life span. What about the amount needed to replace the batteries. These things are not negligible costs. They should probably be included in your report. This truly is not apples to apples comparison.
ОтветитьWhen vehicle costs as much as houses, something is wrong, batteries in electric vehicles are expensive and not recyclable, also blow up and cause fires for unknown reasons,
ОтветитьHaving a 28 year old 7.3 Powerstroke F250 is cheaper. That's what I do. You don't need these flashy fancy new status-mobiles.
ОтветитьThanks
ОтветитьTry running the numbers from across the nation. I have a good feeling you’ll find very different numbers down south.
ОтветитьI don't believe it. Cost and AVAILABILITY and time waiting. The price of electricity WILL GO UP. It already has.
ОтветитьNo EV's for me !
