John Tavares is still 34. Front load his contract and sign him for 4 million x 8 years. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is a 35+ rule, where you have to deal with the cap hit even if the player retires if signed after the player is 35 years old. If Johnny retires after 4 years, his cap is removed and he still gets his money if it was front loaded, and everybody wins. Is there something I'm missing here?
