I meam, i know my isp is forced to provide information to the government and i know i could go to prison for memes in this country soooo....

My primary wish is to prevent my information being made available to those who either use it to bombard me with ads or to sell to others.
Secondarily, to be able to access various sites, including streaming, in other countries.
What do I need in order to accomplish these effects?

I once worked for for a data broker (indirectly). I have never been so grossed out in my life. Even governments buy and sell information about the citizens., and some of it causes you grief. You get that extended car warrentee junk mail, because your local government sold the fact that you registered the vehicle. And that's just the tip of the ice berg. did you register republican or democrat....the government sold that info. etc, etc.

VPN is definitely useful while torrenting, visiting adult sites or unblock websites/services that are blocked in your country for any XYZ reason.

NSA can remove SSL encryption no problem.. In 2013 when Snowden leaks, they bragged on that slide with the smiley face how they removed SSL.. They don't say that stuff today, but just because no one says it doesn't mean its not happening.. In theory the NSA can be working in secret... Many experts say "not possible" because you have to tell at least someone. but all i need is "proof" of their story. I can't proof its not happening, but they can't proof it neither it isn't.

I'm sure you think so since you promoted it but tell us why. After all, all of the attributes of a good VPN has nothing to do with it's features, and everything to do with it's reputation. So tell it would be great if you told us more about BadVPN's reputation. I mean, we all want to us a good VPN and not have to set one up ourselves, right?

Vpn is only good to bypass isp throttling or download limits.

There are so many things wrong with your logic that's not even worth pointing out. A VPN, is like a gun, it can be dangerous even for the one who holds it. I hope I wasn't too subtle. To give you some credit as well, definitely a VPN doesn't do much for the normal user when it comes to security, privacy and anonymity, maybe just a bit, but yet again, don't put everyone in the same bucket. As for your running your own VPS & VPN server, that's cute and funny, like driving a plane on a road as no one is capable of flying it. Too subtle, again ?

I am a lawyer who is starting a new virtual law firm. I was going to get Nord VPN. My Cousin, a professor of Computer Engineering, stated that he thought that purchasing VPN was not worth it. But I didn't inform him that I like to do my case related legal research in coffee shops rather than from home. Do you recommend VPN or anything else in my situation?
