Damn, I didn't know Fujifilm themselves provide that software to mess with colours using your camera.Too bas the 1st gen X-Trans sensors aren't supported there.
ОтветитьBrother, this was a revelation to me. I have done my 10,000 hours processing RAWs and I have switched to Fuji precisely to get back to basics - and a big part of that is shooting JPEGs. I hadn't even considered RAW processing applications, and certainly not Fuji's. However, this will be EXTREMELY useful for developing a few versatile recipes that I can rely on for the JPEG results that I am looking for. Thank you!
ОтветитьThe weird music does not help.
ОтветитьWow super cool
ОтветитьThe thing about Kodachrome is that it just looked natural and this looks like just a preset that you would get from the internet. Like a Lightroom “film preset pack”.
ОтветитьA really useful explanation. I really miss Kodachrome II /25, my favorite soft film certain landscapes and nature scenes. I am trying various recipes on my Fuji XT20. One thing though is the music in this video is so loud that I can barely hear your voice.
ОтветитьA+
ОтветитьHey Man! I'm from Phnom Penh, Cambodia where you show pictures in the video. I started to love Fuji which i never used before. But I do love film look also the simulation. thank for the video.
ОтветитьAs a German Fuji User I like the recipe book from Thomas B. Jones.
It is a great book for cock your own recipes.
I think I must be the ONLY FUJI FILM shooter who Loves STRANGELY the VIVID mode the most on my X100f !!!
ОтветитьPlease please chill with the air quotes my dude! Otherwise enjoying the video thus far.
Ответить1) Did you invent the adjective “filmic”?
2) unless you shot Kodachrome every day, you have no idea what it looks like. None of these recipes come close.
3) in 9 out of 10 of Richie’s recipes he confesses that he never used the film he’s trying to simulate. One example is XP2, which looks nothing like the film.
I love Fuji but these really aren’t film simulations. They do offer great flexibility but that’s it. Also, your father’s Kodachrome slides are pretty much useless from a simulation point of view unless it was stored in the dark.
Half the recipes I see online make it clear that people are building recipes off faded prints and negatives.
You have some good info here but stick with what you know. Kodachrome forgiving? Compared to what? A half stop off could blow a shot. And please, ‘filmic’???
Great shots!
ОтветитьOne thing I'll say about all of the "film recipes" as someone that shoots almost exclusively film is that it makes zero sense to have white balance adjustment for a color negative film recipe (I know that kodachrome is slide film, so this is more of a general comment about film recipes).
If you've ever scanned color negative film you know just how much editing a scanner, or inversion software does to that final image. If we're talking about lab scans then the image will be hugely influenced not just by the scanner used, but by the lab tech that is calibrating and running that scanner, and applying tweaks to the overall images.
So I personally find it so silly that any color negative recipes adjust the white balance when color negative film doesn't have inherent casts to it. Slide film you could certainly make a case for since what you see is more or less what you get.
Great video, and apologies for a comment that's somewhat divorced from the video itself :-P
it is possible to reset these to implement them on video
ОтветитьI found you guys way too late as I'm new to photography and the Fuji system...but I already love you guys.
ОтветитьSuch a great idea Andrew. I just found these recipes and glad I did! Very inspiring to use, almost like loading a roll of film, to me anyway. My Xpro2 seems to have a few recipes on the Fuji X Weekly site which I am trying out. I had the please in my youth to shoot with analogue including Kodachrome 64 so I am tending to favor the Kodachrome II recipe just now, also the mono TriX oh yeah and the Ilford HP5 of course, spent many a long hour in my loft darkroom with this. Anyway, nice video Andrew. Keep on inspiring! :-)
Ответитьi’ve got a question here:If certain recipe needs a specific DR for example DR400 i do need to be at ISO 800 to be abble to take advantage of the 400% in DR,what happens if i shoot at Iso 160 that forces DR100,does it affect the recipe when its suppouse to be at DR400?
ОтветитьAs someone who's been shooting since the 1960's, I shot a bit of Kodachrome 64 and I think Fuji's "Classic Chrome" is much closer to Ektachrome than Kodachrome. Ektachrome is like Kodachrome, but less warm and bluer. I still have some Kodachrome in my freezer (along with other films I saved when I switched to digital 20 years ago) ...
ОтветитьAfter using recipes for some time now I have come to the conclusion that shooting in RAW is the wiser decision. I'm not a professional photographer but RAW gives you so much room to get the best out of what you have. No regrets later on
RAW+JPEG is the best option
Hey. For the recipe you tweaked in the video you didn’t specify what you had for “clarity” and if you set white balance on auto (or daylight like some of the Fuji Weekly ones suggest). Let me know if you can. Thanks!
ОтветитьThis is the reason I picked up a Fuji XE4 today. Love all the recipes Ive seen on other videos! My main camera is a Canon R6, but I have a feeling I will be using the Fuji a lot! By the way, can you set different recipes to different custom settings? Need to find out how to do that if so.
ОтветитьMay I ask where did you buy that hat?
ОтветитьI recently stumbled upon Fuji Recipes earlier today , and it suddenly got me all excited all over again, I just love how Fuji constantly makes me unravel your camera every now and again, such an evergreen exploratory machine 👍😊
Ответитьwhy dont they just shoot film?
ОтветитьCan I do that with my A7-III camera?
Ответитьone raccoon paw up for this recipe. 🦝
Ответитьyou have such a nice way of expelling the little details! Really enjoyed the video!
ОтветитьIf you don’t use recipes, you should
ОтветитьGreat video! I'm curious about something. I'm very budget limited and if I get an x100f, is there a way for me to use x-trans IV simulations on the photos that are taken from x100f?
ОтветитьI find myself pretty limited making recipes on XT3...Hopefully we gonna see a firmware update in the future. :(
ОтветитьI mean the colors are okay but I don't see anything in this video that looks like kodachrome
Ответитьi love my xt30 thanks
ОтветитьAm I the only one who's into the cap Andrew is wearing? Please share where you got it from!
ОтветитьCan i ask u 1 question sir.. cause you know really welll about simulation. Which simulation for in door portrait and out door portrait u think is ideal
ОтветитьWhich camera are you using if you don’t mind please
ОтветитьThe process by which you gather your pictures is quite possibly the most simp thing I have ever heard in my life...
Ответитьhi Andrew & Denae thanks for share...may i know, the recipe WB auto or daylight ?
Ответить3.17 exactly the reason why I’m watching your video and think about switching from RAW editing to in-camera processing right from the start :)
ОтветитьI have an X-PRO1 which obviously doesn't have the chrome profile. Why suggestions on how to get something near this? Maybe a muted Velvia with cook WB shift?
ОтветитьWow. Great video, thank you 😊
ОтветитьThis is amazing. I learnt so much about Fuji echo system with in two weeks of watching a tone of your video. Also got the XT3 based on your review etc that really suited my style. Appreciate all that you do. Thank you.
ОтветитьAnyone have any recipes for a pine forest shoot? I'm finding it really really difficult to settle on anything that is pleasing. It's such a hard forest to capture unless you are only doing up close. I need a fresh way of thinking as i'm in a rut.
I just can't get the contrast and colour to please, even now with my XT4.
Hi Andrew ! Great video, thanks for sharing. Do you confirm your personal recipe does not include Clarity ? Just wanted to make sure it was deliberate (it could also be that you're using a camera that doesn't feature the Clarity settings...).
Ответитьcan this be done on VIDEO
ОтветитьCan these recipes be applied on Fuji video too?
Ответитьsadly my X-H1 doesn't have the color chrome and cc fx blue settings.
ОтветитьHave you tried Kodachrome using RNI All Films? how does that compare to the recipes? Thanks
ОтветитьThis workflow is the main reason why I have migrated to Fujifilm
