Marbuzet, Fieuzal, Ferriere, d'Assault have recently impressed me. 98 Tetre Roteboeuf for recent surpises that carry a higher price.

One of my favorite Bordeaux tasted recently was 2000 Leoville Poyferre. The texture was great and I love those maturing Pauillac leather, forest floor, what-ever-it-is-it's-not-fruit flavors.
My favorite Bordeaux bargain is no longer available.
Terre du Lion, St. Julien.
It was very mysterious. Reputed to be adjacent to Leoville Las Cases (common lion reference), owned by the family, but with fruit that was not yet worthy of inclusion in the renowned estates wines.
It was yummy, age worthy, and under twenty bucks a bottle, whatever it was.
I had a case of the 2000 as well as six of magnums and it lasted, quite well, into the mid to late 2010s. It is no longer available and hasn't been for years, supposedly now being used for some of the Chateau's lesser wines.
Has anyone else tried it or even heard of it?

Had a wonderful Pichon Baron tasting hosted by Jean Michael Cazes in London. All the wines were ex-chateau and the last four vintages were en magnum, 1962, 1961, 1959 and 1957!!! What a privilege!! Favourite drinking Bordeaux is Ch Cantermerle. Fifth growth for second wine prices!

I want to get more into Bordeaux, and I've slowly been building up my little collection, but it all needs to age so long and I've had a heck of a time finding anything on shelves that is already aged sufficiently to at least start experiencing bordeaux wines more! Any tips or advice? I like to be around the $30-70 range where possible.

My favorite Bordeaux at a somewhat affordable price is Brane Cantenac, especially since the 2018 vintage. They have been increasing the quality constantly every year. I've already pre-ordered a few en Primeurs for the 2022 vintage. Can't wait to taste them in a decade 😊

I had 8 bottles of the 1989 Troplong Mondot that I sold at auction in 2010 (along with another 170 bottles). I purchased 6 2009 Haut-Bailly bottles for $119 ea. along with several other 2009 futures. I got 4 Baron's for $139 ea. Cos is usually expensive as it's considered the best wine from St. Estephe. I got a case of 2009 Montrose for less money ($199) than what they wanted for the Cos. Another reasonably priced Bordeaux is the Leoville Barton. For a cheap Bordeaux I have always liked the Meyney. Other bargains are the Cantemerle, & Poujeaux. My value Sauternes is Ch. Rieussec. The property is a close neighbor to Yquem and is owned by the Rothschilds who make Ch. Lafite.

My absolute favorite bordeaux right now is Chateau Pedesclaux from Paulliac. Just classic Paulliac power. Especially love the poverfull graphite in it. Its amazing. So well done and a bargain for the price. Price is unfortunately climbing fast on that bottle over the last years. But still amazing value.

Nice video - I'd have been there with you at the end of D'Yquem party! For Haut Medoc and for my money Chateau Senejac trumps Beaumont and is around the same price point. Haven't drunk any first growths I'm fond of Belair-Monange on the right bank and Giscours on the left. Consistently great wines if you have the money.

Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc is superb value for me (5 to 7 or 8 years of age makes a huge difference) but I need to try Domaine de Chevalier. Thus far I also really like Grand Puy Lacoste (5th growth, Pauillac).

My favorites: Overall it's Pichon Lalande for that soft, beautiful example of Pauillac. For (relative) value it is Leoville Barton, the best priced second growth and one of the most consistent. And my favorite left field wine is Les Carmes Haut Brion given the high percentage of Cab Franc and their techniques.

I have had the 2019 Troplong Mondot. Also at about $100. Was as good as it gets. I think Suckling scored it at 98

Thank you for your videos! Absolutely love your passion and it shines through in your content 👍

Bordeaux lover here and one of my favorite value plays is made by Claire Villars Lurton "Chateau La Gurgue" from Margaux for around $25. It's not even fair haha! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Claire and her husband's biodynamic vision is very interesting and is turning heads in the Medoc. Also enjoy thier fully biodynamic "Chateau Dufort-Vivens" also from Margaux and is gaining steam super fast but is still under $100 for a second growth Grand Cru Classe. Are you kidding me?? Salud! 🍷

While I have never ignored Bordeaux, I'm no expert. I always wonder how long to cellar. Will I gain anything or will the wine just hang on? I have heard that Haut Medoc is a place to look for value and your wine recommendation sounds like excellent value.

Not a beautiful region? Um, did you actually open your eyes when you were there? It is a STUNNING region! Just because it is mostly flat doesn't mean it isn't attractive. I know beauty is subjective, but come on. You review is great though. So many amazing wines in Bordeaux from downright cheap to millionaire-expensive; there is something great for every budget. Thanks for the reviews!

Loved seeing the mix of value and spendy bottles. You asked for values: surprisingly Lidl has a St Emillion Grand Cru for $17. Sometimes they offer $5 off. It is pretty solid FWIW. I also like the Ch. Faugeres offered at Costco for $20.
