Dirk? Alonzo, what about "Uncle Cliffy" Clifford Robinson he came well before Dirk. Please do your research.... You are still one of my favorite players.

Zo was freaking strong asf i remember when Jerry StackHouse and him were fighting for the ball and he lifted Jerry off the ground both feet in the air like a rag doll the man had to weigh at least two hundred and twenty pounds or when Larry Johnson and Alonzo got into it at the mecca and Jeff Van Gundy was hanging on one of his tree trunk legs for dear life those were the good old days 😂 😂

Alonzo Mourning is my GOAT and all time favorite player. I grew up idolizing him and played just like him. Not too many players played with the heart and passion as Zo did.

Georgetown basketball under John Thompson was built from the center position, out. Patrick Ewing, Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutumbo, Othello Harrington, Jahadi White. These guys all played in the NBA, one after another. People may know Georgetown for Allen Iverson, but if not for the legacy of the center position at Georgetown, Iverson would never have ended up there.

I will never forget the young potential that the Charlotte Hornets had with Zo, grandmama, Rex Chapman, and Muggsy Bogues. Unfortunately it never panned out. Contract disputes broke the team up. Larry had a back injury so his numbers declined. Zo was really the only one that developed into superstar status. Still though I can remember playing with them on NBA Jam and thinking that in a few years nobody will be able to beat this team. It reminds me of some of the other "bests that never happened" such as the Warriors with C Webb, Mullen, spreewell, and Hardaway.

In the 25 years that I’ve been working at the airport, Alonzo is the biggest douche that I’ve ever met. I must have taken care of him like 10 times. Finally, it came to a point that when he showed up at the airport, all the workers used to try to walk away from him so they wouldn’t have to take care of him. Rude, impatient, obnoxious and cheap.

Larry Bird was one of the pioneer for big man shooting three pointers. I think he was 6’9” or 7 foot, he wasn’t a big dude that dominated in the paint, but he had buckets. When Dirk got drafted in the 90s, I remember a lot sport analysis or commentators saying Dirk is going to be the next Larry Bird. Dirk had the size of a big man, but he was more three pointers and perimeter shots.

Zo, you were always one of my favourite players. I just loved the way you guys played during the nineties/early 00’s. I can’t watch today’s NBA because of the lack of defense and the softness of those gucci wearing players. Ratings have never been this bad. NBA lacks character.

Shooting 50% on 2s is the same as shooting 33% from 3. Some players shouldn't be taking the 3-pointer. Like Giannis.

He'd still be DPOY contender every year. I actually think he'd be more successful now than in the late 90's when he was in his prime. Probably more so than Shaq simply because he was a lot better defensively on the perimeter. That's no knock on Shaq it's just Zo was just a ridiculous defender in his prime. Zo, Hakeem and David Robinson are the guys who I feel would've been even more successful in todays game, than in the era they played in. Embiid is possibly the closest thing we have to a traditional Centre today and he's a wrecking ball when healthy. And you watch all those guys and you can see how well their skills translate

I think the amount of physicality late 90's to early 2000's was the best balance between fluidity of offense and pressure defense.

The game is so soft and unexciting now. Just a shoot out with no defense now.

Lower percentage shot, but worth more, and if you shoot more shots, it pays off. When you play a post game, you slow down the pace of play. Traditional centres are not coming back, sorry.

Like. Few others here I can't watch more than highlights occasionally these days.. I miss the days of the big man bodying up and punishing mismatches in the post... Like Dream or Ewing or Parrish or Cap... I stopped watching in 06 when they stopped letting Shaq be Shaq...

Pathetic game now..
I'll stick to old school 70s, 80s, 90s and very early 2ks...... 👍
