A Bug’s Life (PS1) Review | The Pixar Game that’s ALMOST Good

Fun fact: At the end of the game, when you watch the final clip from the movie, they play the John Williams’ closing music score from the movie Far and Away. It’s also the same ending music piece used in Treasure Planet’s teaser trailer

Sounds frustrating to go through this kind of gameplay. I’ve been through a frustrating gameplay before. It was with Despicable Me the game. The gameplay was a nightmare! That’s especially the case when you keep getting the death mechanic!

I remember playing this game on my computer when I was little, but I never got past the second level I believe. I eventually bought it years later on the Playstation Store on my PS3, but I believe I quickly lost interest in it. After hearing Mat's thoughts on it, I guess the fact that I wasn't as skilled of a player in those times as I am now is not the only reason why I never got far. Anyway, I hope he one day reviews the video game, World's End Club. It ain't perfect, but I feel like it's underrated.

What prevents me from ever completing this is that annoying mechanic where the game doesn’t replenish your lives after you run out. So if you only have one life left when entering a level, you can’t rely on checkpoints if you die.

Never had played it before, I remember Caddicarus reviewing it, but someday. I can take Flik’s challenge. It’s nice that Traveler’s Tales would improve with their Lego Games

To be honest, almost all of the Pixar tie in games have a bad reputation because the damn controllers make the experience like a shit show.

Anyone else want to see him play another of the Ratchet and Clank games? He enjoyed the first one and redeemed his view after the movie. I’ve heard the Future games were fantastic! Maybe a crack in time perhaps?

I remember I played it long time ago! And yes! It was frustrated! Especially the Game Over FMV, I makes me feel bad inside.

Although I like the music the envioments and that little silly death with Flik, when he got captured by the bird. He's just fainted. XD

DO TOY STORY 2 FOR PS1 NEXT

People, this isn't the first time he's reviewed a video game. Several years ago, he covered Epic Mickey, including going behind the scenes of its production.

With that being said, I like this style. It may be long with too much facecam, but it's nice to hear Animat talk about his childhood history with this game.

This is mostly about the same quality as the N64. But I will say one positive thing about the game; at least games like Superman 64 and Bubsy 3D make this look like a masterpiece. Those are both 0/10.

5/10 seems about right, but the Toy Story 2 video game was slightly better, keyword being slightly.

I remember still owning Disney dinosaur the game and monster inc scare team for ps1. I don’t know if they are still in my case of games. Bugs life reminds me of a PC game called: bugdom,
by the graphics. 😊 wonderful video!

If Mat does more classic video game reviews based on cartoons and animated movies, I hope he discusses Looney Tunes Sheep Raider/Sheep Dog N Wolf on the ps1. That's legit one of my top five ps1 games

I have a copy of this game for N64. And honestly, it's aged horribly like the original movie, especially since it forces you to use that damn controller pack to save the game data.

Well this is a first. I've never seen Animat review a video game before, let alone a movie tie-in game.

I suggust doing a video game review on Wall-E or Cars they're games based on Pixar's most well known movies and are worth playing. A bug's life game is a better tie in movie game than most games based on films.

I can see Animat doing this along with his other content; talking about video games.
Maybe he'll talk about the Kingdom Hearts series

The most frustrating thing in this game is the Molt boss. Even though Molt is easy to defeat. But the hardest thing is the ants just keep giving Flik red berries! Why can't the ants just watch Flik instead of helping him get killed by throwing red berries at him?
Flik can do this by himself!
Stupid ants! They should learn the berries from Mr. Soil from the training level.

This was one of 3 games I had when I first got my PlayStation for Christmas. I’m aware of the flaws but it still has a special place in my heart.

Still remember when I tried the Demo of this game at my local toy store.

I actually miss these movie license games, even though 99% of them end up being bad.

I had this game too, but I usually got frustrated with it because I could never get passed the canyon level. I actually think the best parts of the game are the training mode and the Traveler's Tales logo!

Funnily enough, I had this game on N64 but never saw the movie.

I played the N64 version of the game and I do agree with how the camera is messed up and there really should be a random drop on extra lives, he should review Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue
