Great job Scott. All great advice. Your obvious experience can’t be questioned. I will say local purchase can be difficult due to availability. Patience is a virtue until it isn’t 😂I have had to resort to shipping. The scamming advice is really important. Feedback on eBay or FB market is also something to use to determine scammers. I apologize if you mentioned it.

I can only imagine someone crooked coming to you place. It would be a thief's paradise. But it would be an enthusiast's paradise as well.
If ebay detects someone trying to go around them they will kick you off ebay. I have bought a lot of things on ebay and still do. It is a good way to satisfy your post middle age craziness. Went through the watch thing, golf clubs and now stereo equipment. Buying stuff that I had in the past.

The first time I bought a receiver on eBay I saw a beautiful Harman Kardon that looked perfect. I bought it and the left front of the face plate was really wrecked. I didn't notice that in the photos, the left one inch of the face plate was sliced off in every picture. I should have looked more closely. The seller disappeared after that. At least it worked OK. BTW there is a place on line called Vintage Hi Fi Audio that sells beautiful reproduction Marantz face plates. Thank you for all of the great tips Scott!

I've got a montgomery ward stereophonic music center model gmj 2942. Cannot find anything on this model. Have seen some similar cabinets with the "disco lights" but none are the same as this one.
