I had so many issues with my brand new Dell XPS 15 9500 that I would prefer the MacBook Pro 13 (unless you need 32GB RAM, which you can find on the XPS 13 only)

If this comparison was done against an AMD chipset, then it would beat the Mac for sure. Also, kind of unbelievable that Fortnite runs better on the Mac than on the Dell considering the Epic v Apple suit.

Getting a MacBook Pro is overkill, at this stage. A $999 Macbook Air would give the same results. They use the same/similar SOC.

37fps vs 29fps are both unplayable frames rates. Certainly not 6x the performance.

The quality setting for Fortnight were set for auto. Would that cause the games to perform differently than setting the quality settings manually?

What is the actual battery performance when gaming? Does it actually matter? I’ve never games for hours away from a power outlets anyway.

Why do you have shadow quality 'turned OFF' + level of detail at 'Lowest' in XPS 13, meanwhile shadow quality at 'Low' + level of detail at 'Low' in Apple M1 in SoTTR...?? That is not an equal comparison.

6. No battery from 100%->0% testing( video+music+ Internet, etc.)
7. no special software compare testing(Adobe/XCode/Matlab/AutoCAD,etc.)
8. No Front camera compare testing
9. No weights compare testing
10. no price compare

Honestly. It's a clear win for macbook for most people. Significantly cheaper. I can't even buy the dell xps 13 for under $2000 where I'm from, because they don't even sell the cheapest model. Mac, I can easily buy for $1000. Convenient.

Thanks for the review comparison, just what I was looking for. For my requirements the Dell XPS 13 would be my choice. Primarily due to its Windows/Intel base on the Dell XPS 13. For my requirements I have to consider application compatibility, drivers, accessories such as external GPU. However if I was in the Apple eco system the new M1 MacBook Pro 13 would be a very tempting upgrade.

Why does it look like it was paid by intel?
Skipped real battery usage (under normal load MacBook pro will stay alive for 4 more hours), apps, benchmarks.
Testing only not optimized games. (Emulation is eating 30% of performance).
It sounds like last intel conference when Intel said it's 2 times better than AMD.
It WAS 2 times better... For 7 seconds because of battery saving mode in AMD CPU lmao.

One suggestion: compare some softwares that already have Apple Silicon support, like Chrome.

Why comparing mac for gaming in first place? Mac never meant for gaming as windows does right? Better compare blender render test, Premier pro cc, after effects, etc also don’t forget to mention durability of both machines in terms of their work. Windows machine slowing down vs MacBook slowing down in long term usage?

Keep in mind most of these tests are unoptimized for Apple silicon and are running through translation of Rosetta 2

That Dell is a minimum of $1000.00 more than the M1 MacBook Pro....extrapolate the price/performance curve and consider which is the better value..... re-sell them in 3 years and I bet you'll get much more from the current MBP ..... the Dell will be a door stop....x86-based units will have little to no re-sale value......admit it
