Been there before on the way to San Diego. It really is nice down there. But, I'm in grimey, homeless infused L.A.

But if you are travelling with friends who have nothing to do with vlogging and don't wanna be in the footage, you cannot annoy them all the time with taking cinematic shots.

Any tips for that?

My issue is a good video camera.
I hike, so I want something small and lightweight. My Sony mirrorless is my dedicated photo camera. But not sure what's good for video.

Sold my GoPro as the battery was trash. Considered this DJI Pocket 3, but I don't know how it'll perform in the winter. Probably not well. And having to use that lav mic is a bit too much setup and now batteries to rely on.

Perhaps a 360 cam? I don't know...

It's so I can vlog my hikes, and do a few talking segments in front of the camera

I can understand that with new gear you will want to test out a lot of the technical abilities - and that's important too. A good understanding of what your equipment can do, and what it can't is essential. I'm not one that does a lot of video, but I have some vague memories of what I once learned and studied: create a synopsis, move with bent knees, and always expect, at least, 10 times more of recording time compared to final product (most will end up on the cutting room floor anyway). Also, editing will always take longer than you think.
