What an exceptionally well done video. Thank you so much!
ОтветитьYou don’t HAVE to DO anything to get “ IT “. You either have “ IT “, or you don’t. PS, Clara Bow defined “ IT “ back in the 20’s and was the first “IT “girl. ( you love history, right?❤)
ОтветитьThe IT Girls of today are DUDES !
Ответить"US President Henry Ford"
WHAT? You mean President of Ford Motor Company Henry Ford. The President was GERALD ford!
Your phone case please?
ОтветитьSuper model is deas.ita literally just nepotism babies.the issue is inclusiveness.when everyone is a model, everyone is a actor with no talent.we are filled in a area of talentless stars.kendal jenner is the highest paid model...do I need to say more?
Ответитьi think it’s also fair to mention the prada effect, in which the term “supermodel” died. miuccia prada didn’t appreciate the fact that supermodels were gaining all of this power, influence, & money. so she reversed the ego of “the supermodel” by having all white models that weren’t allowed to show personality & they all looked the same, essentially. this also introduced the “one black model per runway” rule.
ОтветитьI’m still stuck on making $1155 per week.
ОтветитьSame thing for beauty peagants, if you don't have a large following on social media, every girl that has will surpass you in the contest... even if they have no talent and "it factor" for the job.
Rigging still happens though, so it's the same old story also.
You gotta be someone's daughter to really make it and be treated in a correct way.
I must add about that in the 90s models were called as living mannequine, that was still what you would hear at 2012 and later as a description of our job.
So it did kinda live till 20s and it is kinda still living in the society of modeling, but not in the western business. Or hopefully at least not as strongly anymore.
Two words.. Bella Hadid. How dare you
ОтветитьThere are more white models in the industry b/c America is 85% white & Europe even more so. Africa / South America / China have their own thing or aren't prosperous enough to be involved. So 85%+ of the models being white reflect who their clients are. White people. That's not new.
ОтветитьWait wait wait...plus-sizes begin with size 10????!!!! On what planet???!!
ОтветитьOkay but not getting payed for 30 days isn't weird in most of Europe imo, like we get monthly payments at out jobs
ОтветитьI once followed a promising young model who walked for her first VS fashion show (which was also the last). Her modeling jobs dried up quick, and her social media went from fashion shoots to streams of different yatch and beach photos and a new Birkin over and over again. It didn't make sense that she could afford those things since she wasn't from a rich background nor did she have any modeling jobs until I read up about "yatch girls" and I realized she became one. Yatch girls is a form of escorting (make with that what you will) that a lot of struggling models do, maybe for the good pay, or maybe for better job prospects, or to find a rich partner. Regardless of your opinions on sex work, it's a sad thing that a lot of ladies who do the yatch gig were in the same situation: modeling didnt want them anymore and rich men will pay a lot for them.
I did feel so sad for her, because she still puts on a facade that she is still doing modeling gigs for "brands" even if a simple Google search says otherwise.
henry ford wasn’t a US president, great vid tho
ОтветитьYou're great.Hi from myself in Manchester UK Mina
Ответить2.3/10
ОтветитьNo way I became a Paltrow fan after that trial. When she testified she was very out of touch and entitled and it reinforced the reasons why I’ve never been a fan…
ОтветитьDiversity still doesn’t exist
Ответитьit feels like the only models who get recognition these days are the ones fueled by nepotism
ОтветитьAI will take out the lower-income models. Then they'll be nothing left but the nepotism babies for runway shows.
ОтветитьDarling, I love you and will continue to watch your every video be wise of your thoughtful and entertaining content...but every time you say "ex-cetera" my soul dies a little. It's et cetera. With a T.
ОтветитьYes.
Beauty is dead in our culture.
I really needed a mention of Iman and Alek Wek in this piece.
ОтветитьGirl- henry ford was the founder of ford motor company. Not a president. Gerald ford was a president of the United States. 🤦🏽♀️
Ответить7mths later I’m kinda loving how reachable the modeling career is. As a 90s baby my dream of being a model stopped at the fact that my mother fully grown is a solid 4’9 and father ,being the tallest son at 5’6 there’s just no way I’ll grow enough to model. Today at 5’3 with instagram and social media I can model as a side hustle or even turn it into a career. It’s less intimidating, like a cheat code in a video game and I’m totally here for it. Even then, unfortunately , we still have the European standards of beauty being dragged along and like the boss at the last level of any game;still hindering how empowering beauty and fashion are.
As a side note social media and technology has really opened allot of avenues. Hopefully we allow these tools to help us evolve into great human beings of this planet and not only see one human type as beautiful.
Can’t believe it’s 2023
ОтветитьeT cetera
where is the “ek” coming from?
Tatjana Patitz was considered a supermodel before Kate came along.
ОтветитьYou’re look in this video is giving flapper girl in the 20s
ОтветитьBella the only one keeping it up
ОтветитьJang Wonyoung is 100% the it girl in Korea though. Like they definitely have a market for it girls based off brand sponsorships instead of modeling on runways.
ОтветитьGreat vid as always but u forgot one theme a lot of models went through: sexual abuse. Karen Mugler talked about it (both rape and being coerced into sex) but also Gisele and Kate did nude shots when they were 14/15.
ОтветитьI remember when Twiggy was popular and in that era (1970s), her acute thinness was highly criticized, not praised nor held up as an ideal for all women. Her look was considered very unhealthy and unrealistic--at that time. So sad, that changed afterwards.
Ответитьoff-topic but you look so pretty mina!!! love your 1920s style
ОтветитьLook if white people invented the fashion industry and models, its not surprising there are more white models and have been the standard. I’m Asian and I’m not offended less asian or minorities are involved. We Asians tend to dominate other fields like healthcare or IT. It’s more of a cultural thing than racist ..which is the implied context here in the video .
ОтветитьI was studying fashion from 85\87 when this first kicked off I think azzadine allaiah and grace Jones pathed the way for the super models it was a very exciting and creative time for fashion
ОтветитьMINA!!! I adore you!! And your brows!!! 😍
ОтветитьHenry Ford was never a US president. He invented assembly lines for his auto manufacturing.
ОтветитьMy daughter put makeup on these models. They ACTED like mannequins.
ОтветитьYou should do a video on why models have left the Industry to do acting or music instead. I heard the industry is very toxic but maybe not to some. I guess it depends who you’re working with.
