I am actually very glad the Lord led me to your channel. As I started to abide more in Jesus, I found myself wanting to live holier and covering up more. So I decided to buy some material and make my own dresses 🤭 one thing led to the next, and here I am. Very thankful 🙌🏻 the word says we will be known by the fruit we bare, so as I started to live more and more in God's Kingdom, I have a burning desire to represent Him more truthfully.

Megan, Thank you so much for sharing all of this information and doing Q&A videos! I’m new-ish to your channel and have learned so much already. I especially appreciate your candor and honesty and how willing you are to answer questions from non-Mennonites. My grandparents all grew up Mennonite in Lanc Co, but I was raised in a fundamental evangelical church and realized I don’t know a lot about the culture they came from. I also think growing up in rural Lanc Co surrounded by the “plain” community I formed some unhealthy judgements from just a few limited experiences or observations. Your videos inform and challenge those opinions, and I’m enjoying learning from an “inside” perspective. Also, most importantly, thank you for all you are doing to share the light of Christ with your audience! Your influence is motivating me to examine how I could do that better in my own life. ❤

I just recently found your channel. It is so cool. I am also from Lancaster County. (My ancestors on my paternal grandmother's side were all Mennonite.) At the point of my great-grandarents they started to shift away from the Mennonite church [I have no idea why. I just know my grandmother wasn't raised mennonite but her mother still kept some of the traditions.]
Her family stayed in Christianity, and when my dad was young they joined the church that I grew up in. [It's a bit different from Anabaptists or Protestants since it is 7th Day and (Leviticus 23) Holy Day Keeping] But some things we have in common like baptizing believers instead of infants and the verse about being more set apart in our hearts since we are 'ambassadors' rather than complete 'citizens' of the world.

I've been interested in learning about the Mennonite and Amish culture since I live here but have not gotten many experiences. I know a few Mennonites / past-Mennonites. I am good friends with a Black Bumper Mennonite family. But that is about it.
My great-grandparents who grew up Mennonite were never alive while I was so I never got a chance to really learn much about them and their culture.
I feel like it is just such an interesting culture and it is interesting to learn about such deep roots it has too.
[I was looking back through my genealogy, and I realized that once my Mennonite ancestors settled down in Lancaster, they stayed their, usually in the same exact township and area, all the way down to my family. It really struck a chord in me that I grew up in the same exact spot as where a bunch of my fifth or sixth great grandparents did. I had never thought about that concept before😅]

I started dressing more modestly because I feel strongly about removing myself from the pressures of anti-aging, and makeup and self tanning etc. and just felt compelled to. I feel like it makes me a weird combination of a person because I have some very visible tattoos. Although we may not agree on everything, but I think your beliefs are beautiful.

Megan, you expained the anabaptist beginnings well. My heritage is anabaptist also from the Nazarene church is Switzerland. Fruelich was our founder and believed pretty much as Menno did. After coming to America to avoid persecution, my forefathers met and formed the church Apistoic Christian Church of America...which we just call the AC church. Ha! (We are not pentacostal Apostolic).i am 72, and have also been asked many questions...sometimes made fun of. My church background goes back about 200 yrs. Alot of changes in traditions, like the Mennonites probably experienced, that sometimes change is good as long as we stay true to God's word. God bless you.

You are helping me get back into my faith. I am non denominational Christian, and your talk about how we can love Christ and still love and understand those who don’t think the same as we do. I have my beliefs but I don’t believe I should force my faith or beliefs or values on others. We are all free to make our own choices and I fully support the freedoms to live as we each want ( regarding reproduction, gay rights etc) but we should stand firm in our personal beliefs and live them out for ourselves and set good examples :)

I used to live close to a Mennonite area and I was shocked that they were known for stealing from local non Mennonite stores. Not who I thought they were at all.

I don’t think it’s pressure to look a certain way, how ever why not take good care of your body? Your appearance does say a lot about you. If you were made in the image of God and your body is a temple, the temples should be taken care of and adorned in the sense of good skin care routine which takes some effort. It also is pleasing to look on attractive things. I don’t like to wear a lot of fake things. However, I do like to wear make up to compliments and enhance my appearance. I think when you think your self-worth is coming from how you look, then that’s a problem. However to take good care of yourself is I think respecting Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

You n your belief about modesty is almost very close to Muslim women.
As in Quran explains that when our life is under God's guidance that's the color of God regardless bathing with yellow, red purple dyes.

I love how well you can explain things! I’m a Mennonite as well and I grew up not knowing why we do certain things and having so much questions that never got answered, so I absolutely love hearing when you talk about it. Fully believe life is black and white and got to just love how the Bible tells you! ❤️❤️

The doily on the head takes away from letting your light shine, at least to me. Right away one thinks "well aren't they special" and that isn't what you want the first impression to be. If I am drawn it will be spirit. Then the physical part says "but I don't want to ware a doily so forget it". The hair is beautiful like anything else God created. He doesn't hide one sunset or one flower. The aramaic, hebrew and greek all are different than the King James so any interpretation has to go through the original language .

Which version of the Bible to you or others use? I know some versions vary due to difference in translations and these different versions inspire different interpretations. I read that early very versions of the Bible said men should not lay with boys vs. men should not lay with men which have very different meanings.

Downsides? My people did a little gossiping, and surprisingly the men were better at it. BTW the dress your young friend wore when she came to visit was very typical Mennonite garb in my experience.

Megan, let me just simply say that I love you. I am a 71 year old woman, am not Mennonite but am of a faith very similar to yours (no need to bring that into the mix). You are wise beyond your years sweetheart and you are an influence to many people.

Would you really kill your child if it disobeys you , would you let your husband do so? There are so many examples. I honestly don’t want to be rude, I truly am interested. How does one factor a single woman in her fifties who doesn’t have kids and not married?

I know this may sound strange, but there are so many parallels with Islam, especially as practiced in Egypt by those who embrace Islam out of love for God.

There’s a Holderman Mennonite group near me in southern Louisiana, but they dress with black covering for their hair buns, small print belted dresses—kind of like a 50s house dress. I don’t think any of them would have considered doing a video like you are doing unless they had permission from their bishop.

Do mennonites eat biblically clean or keep the feasts?

I wasn't raised as any particular religion, but I believe I could safely say I've always been guided by Christian roots. Interesting to me, I seem to have developed Amish and Mennonite cultural traits, without influence other than solely reading and studying the KJV Bible.
From my perspective, many who go by the title, "Christian", do not appear to live particularly different than the rest of the American culture. I understand that, as that was me in my younger years, before I started to really listen to God, and live unto him, strictly according to his word. It's interesting to see how people move through their faith as they grow, and to see what they bloom into. ⚘
