Listening to this honestly makes me feel a little bitter about my cycle haha. LSAT and GPA inflation, especially over the past 4 years has been insane. I graduated Magna cumme laude and scored a 173 and was locked out of the t6. I was lucky enough to get into Berkeley, Duke, and Cornell but hearing someone get into Stanford with a 172/170 just makes me sooooo salty lol.

i’m entering my freshman year of high school and i’m super set on going towards a career in law. i’m still kinda mad that lawyers don’t dramatically shout “objection” like in ace attorney, but whatever

If you want to find the best law school, see the attorneys who WON the most significant settlements or got the worst criminals off; that will tell you who has the BEST law school. Just so you know, IVY LEAGUE law schools are not the best law schools. The TOP LAWYERS you read about did not go to IVY LEAGUE law schools.

good on you.

and for the rest of you, if you want that promotion or raise or whatever, dont keep it a secret and dont stop following up.

law is the child of logic

philosiphy is the human attempt at codifying logic

or is that the other way around?

anyway, take philosiphy or logic majors as your bachelors.

they sound useless, and they sure as f!%k are by themselves, but youll learn the very most essential foundations of law.

I still say something rigorous and employable in its own right, like Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Accounting, is something to major in in Undergrad. You will have a resume that exceeds 80% of lawyers for lucrative jobs in tech companies or law firms that cater to tech companies, or finance firms like investment banks or buy-side firms. Plus, if you have to delay going to law school for whatever reason, you can get a good job at age 22 in between. Also, a 3.2 GPA in that is competitive with a 3.9 in a H&SS major.

I know you mentioned that there is no major that really prepares one for law school, but what do you think about majoring in classics--particularly Latin, where one will study the works of Cicero?
I minored in Latin in college and for a little while I felt like I was learning the fundamentals of constructing an argument...

Fictional depictions of the field have lured many young people into the depths of the most parasitic profession on the planet, one that's destined to be replaced by AI as it's more aptly represented by weasels rather than eagles when left to it's own devices.

Hey!! I assume this is rather common because I had always wanted to BE Lawyer and Practice law. In the Honours Faculty for English/ Hist, in 4th year I took 2 Business courses - Tort and contract Law. Loved both. On my first exam, I was ill, so, my Department head gave me a reprieve - I was allowed a two week extension before the Final Exam. Time came and my Prof. couldn't accommodate my Schedule-He already Had! So I end up writing the tort Final in a conference room alone, at his law firm. In the 80's you could still smoke, basically everywhere; I ended up being served coffee with fresh ashtrays during the 3 hr exam. Scored an 80 and told me friends. Ended up as a Counsellor for troubled Folk. The roads we take.... I am too old to start Law now, again, much to my chagrin. I watch a lot of Law-online these days, including this learned man's channel. Unfulfilled Dreams, eh?

TBH, I think the Philosophy major does help and it's the only major that will help. But there's no reason why you should major in philosophy when you have absolutely no interest in it, just to become a lawyer. Also, if you're not from the US, and if the philosophy major in your country doesn't do formal logic, philosophy won't help that much, either. But if you are going to a US school, where philosophy majors deal with logic problems all the time, doing well in philosophy will help. LSAT questions aren't that hard and there's not much to prep for, if you graduated summa cum laude in philosophy from one of the highly regarded universities. Again, this is not a good reason to major in philosophy because you can always study for LR and LG separately.

----------
- It seems odd that you cannot take core law courses as an undergrad.
- Ones that have practical application.
- It's rediculous.
- UK is different I believe.
- THAT IS CORRUPTION IN ITSELF as far as Politics goes. LSAT.😆

Actually, if English is not your first language and going to law school is still your dream, then, Political Science in my opinion is the best major should be chosen, because it requires so many English skills that are also required for law school.
