when I was 5 years old and I heard East Timor existence for the first time and I said "wait if there is a East Timor then there should be a West Timor" now that thought has beine stuck in my head ever since
but tbh it would be cool if there was a West Timor.

I know it means "east east" but I still call it Timor Leste because it's more accurate and from what I heard it's what natives prefer it be called.

I have a rudimentary and very simple idea to make Timor Leste better.

1) Education: Filipino teachers can help teach the Timor Leste kids English, math and sports. Brazilian teachers and coaches can help teach Portuguese, math and football.

2) Australian that sell energy internationally shall extend cables to Timor Leste.

3)Timor Leste has solar energy potential and it shall be used for seawater desalination. The desalination and the natural rainfall provide the water for hygienic sanitation and then usage.

4) The difficult and political part. Can Indonesia allow more cooperation between Timor Leste with West Timor and other islands in the East Nusa Tenggara and Maluku provinces. Here Portuguese speaking priests can help.

Eu adoro Timor-Leste. I was deployed during the trouble times after the massacres when they vote for independence. Although I had some rough times there.... It is very deep in my heart.

Timor Leste seems Portuguese and Catholic. As a new nation I see it as a place of potential and opportunity. If energy poor they should have an industry that will help the citizenry create it's own electricity by using thier homes or businesses as a small scale electricity manufactory. Installed correctly, solar panels can create a zero monthly electricity bill. But solar panels installed to create "stored energy" I believe that surplus energy can provide at least $75.00 a month profit to each home that has 1,800sqm of useable space. Electric Vehicles nationwide would be ideal and public transportation should be all EV. The use of US dollars is very good in fact a multi currency monetary policy would be better. Having International Banking services that can offer Timorese capital to foreign borrowers (with collateral from their home nation) is a good business venture to pursue. The republic of Nauru had such banking in the 1980s and would lend Philippine businesses Nauru capital for Philippine Domestic Mining ventures.. the money was paid back with interest and was thier way of making money from Nauru's phosphate mining profits in the late 1900s.

I will love it if East Timor became the new Bali for Australian tourism. Sure the Aussie bogans should still go to Bali. But everyone else should go to East Timor.

As an Australian, I am sickened by how my country, a first world country, has treated East Timor regarding the Timor Gap. However things are better now with East Timor getting 90%, of the oil revenue.

Why does East Timor only rule part of the island!?
Because West Timor isn't part of the Portuguese Colony, that's why part of the island is still held by Indonesia ( Ex-Dutch East Indies )
