This is a popular Japanese story about a poem called "Tomino's Hell." They say that you should only read it with your mind, and never out loud. If you were to read it out loud, then you must take responsibility for your actions. "Tomino's Hell" (トミノの地獄) was written by Saijō Yaso (西條八十) in his 27th collection of poems 'Sakin' (or, 'Gold Dust' in English) in 1919. It's uncertain how this rumor started, but a warning states that, "If you read this poem out loud, tragic things (凶事) will happen." It is similar to a curse, and should be not be compared with the common "You'll grow taller" myth or even "My parents died." Does this give you a sense of how dangerous it is?

This story used to be very popular in 2ch, and there were many people on the site taking pictures and videos and posting them as proof. Many users said that nothing happened, but there were also many posts where the user did not come back to post the results. I think that's scarier than someone posting that someone else got sick or passed away. But if you were to read this out loud, it'd be better to read it in Japanese rather than the translation.
