Good video but you made one mistake, once your Ledger is full and you want to add additional coins, you do not need to buy a second ledge. You can simply delete the app BUT your keys are not deleted from the Ledger. Delete the app to make more storage to add another currency. To go back to your initial currencies that have been deleted, just re install the app and your Ledger will dig out the keys for that currency. So when you delete an app, you are only deleting the application to access the keys on your ledger, not the keys them selves, they have been filed away.

Ledger Nano S lets you hold as many coins on it as you want (as long as they're supported) and you can delete apps without losing the holdings since they've been stored to the private key. So there's no need for 2 nanos, you just have to manage it accordingly.

Thanks for the video. What happens if I lose my Ledger Nano S? Will I be able to recover my Lumens, considering the key is embedded in the Ledger? Do I need to make note of my public and private keys?

Looks like you made some money with increase in lumens. Why can't I login onto my binance¿ I'm transferring ethereum from coinbase to binance then exchanging for xml. Then onto the wallet.. exactly what you are doing.

Thanks, it helps me to install lumens io my ledger. I deposit lumens from bittrex but it's on pending withdrawal, i don't have any idea how long does it takes to reflect on my ledger wallet.

I heard that it costs 20 lumens to put your lumens on the Nano s. Is that true?

Hey Tom thanks for this! One quick question. Maybe I'm missing something but it seems that doing this only transfers from an exchange to Stellar's servers, therefore if Stellar gets hacked you're just as vulnerable as an exchange. Correct? Also how is my private key stored on the Ledger? I didn't see that in this video... Thanks in advance! =)

Great video, thanks for sharing. How would I cash out my stellar lumens? Do I have to exchange it on binance to ether/btc first then store the ether/btc on my ledger, then transfer to coinbase? What is the fastest/easiest route with the least amount of middlemen?

However, I think you are wrong about one thing - you can store more than 5 different assets on the nano s. Its just that you can only have a max of 5 apps installed at anyone one time. So if you have more than 5 you have to add and remove apps depending on which wallet and private key you want to interact with. Deleting the app does not delete the private key from the app, I have just tested this myself with Komodo.

Thanks Thomas, this was a very helpful video. I purchased some XLM a few week ago and moved it from the exchange to the Stellar network. Then I ordered a Nano S and just received it today. If I transfer my XLM from my current Stellar account to my Nano S I'm just creating another stellar account, correct? Only the newer account is only accessible with the Nano and and therefor more secure, Am I understanding this correctly? Thanks again for the great content.

I just create account using new ledger nano s. I already get the public key. but below the key there is a sentence:

This account doesn't exist on the network. To create this account, send it at least 1 lumen (XLM) to fulfill the minimum balance.

Then i tried to send XLM from VIP exchange to my ledger nano account using the public key created. But It asks for memo (I don't know what to fill) in order to send XLM.


Then i tried simply fill any words in the memo, and click send. then the message appear to be:

Alamat Stellar Lumens yang anda masukan tidak benar. (meaning that the address of your stellar lumens is not correct)

You can have all the coins on the nano s but you have to uninstall the apps and install another one, if you wanna use the coin apps you uninstalled you have to reinstall them and the coins will still be there =)

What would happen if the Stellar Lumen website was down? You cant access your wallet? Is there a desktop app for lumens ledger?

Reddit co founder gave support for XLM yesterday! Stripe also said they will use XLM in the future instead of Bitcoin! They will stop accepting Bitcoin in a few days!! Great news!! :)

At this point I can't tell whether Ledger is really more secure than using a desktop wallet.

Let's say your Ledger Nano breaks or is lost. With other coins, you use the backup phrase to recover accounts. Is this backup phrase sufficient to recover the account on Stellar network?

XRP becoming a corruptible big-corporate owned currency is truly scary.

I'm stocking up mainly on XLM instead ;)
Keeping some in XRP to be dumped later as pure speculative stake.
Hopefully, one day, these centralized banks with overpaid top executives will become obsolete.

I believe XRP will go up, and it is still a good investment choice in the short term.
But that does not mean that I believe the project is good for the world as an actual "currency".

The Stellar Network on the other hand is decentralized, not simply "distributed", and the Stellar organisation is a non-profit that do not have the power to freeze transactions. IBM is merely a partner -- they do not control the network but is merely cooperating and assisted by the developers to adopt the network for their projects. Any other companies can come in at anytime to do the same too. Stellar doesn't belong to IBM.

And even if Stellar doesn't live up to expectations, then there are certainly other better options the banks which Ripple is supporting; that has the potential to erode the power of these too big to fail banks that have caused the world economic collapse in 2008, while their criminal top executives pays themselves massive bonuses with their bailout money courtesy of the US tax payers, and only a negligible number of culprits/scape-goats gets charged with prison time.

HELP!!! There is no "browser support" option in stellar ap on my ledger nano s, the only thing there is in settings is "hash signing". I'm trying to withdraw XLM from Ledger Nano S and there is no way to do that. I've tried on 2 different computers, 1 with windows 7 and the other one with windows 10. On windows 7 I'm logged in Stellar Account Viewer, submitting transaction and it freezes up on "submitting transaction to the network" screen. On windows 10 there's no way to even log in to stellar account viewer. I can only log in on windows 7 and chrome browser. Can you help?
