the narrator says the referee warns jim flynn who listens carefully as he spits on the ground showing a sign of blatant disrespect to the champ Jack Jackson.
Thats why he got battered the way he did.
Great video, covers it all. I've learned a ton about how society was back then too. Thank you
ОтветитьHenry Cooper! What a stud and maybe with some more Vaseline he'd of beat Mohammed...
ОтветитьFor what it's worth, I gotta go with Jack Johnson.... Would have loved to have seen dempsey versus marciano because styles make fights.
ОтветитьAs a sport historian, this was invaluable...
ОтветитьTommy Burns is severely underrated, 13 title defenses with a wicked right hand and good boxing skills all while being only 5'7 168lbs. He also did what none had done before and gave a black contender a chance to win the crown. Even though Jack Johnson outweighed him by almost forty pounds, he lasted an impressive 14 rounds against an all-time great champion.
ОтветитьOscar Wilde is Irish.
ОтветитьAs an Irish man, Oscar Wilde being called English pisses me right off 😂 he’s irish, born in Ireland and he died in France!!! Ugh 🇮🇪🇮🇪
ОтветитьToday's boxers boxing 75 rounds bare-knuckle I wonder how many of them could hang in there
ОтветитьVery cool.
ОтветитьThis film was made by singer-songwriter Harry Chapin (Cats in the cradle) for Bill Cayton back in 1968. Clayton’s next film was an awesome one: Jack Johnson’ 1970, music by Miles Davis
ОтветитьIf only Harry Greb had some film out there he wouldve beat the shit out of all of those guys his size
ОтветитьJack Johnson needs a movie.
ОтветитьI’m sure I’m history there was better before tv
ОтветитьI feel like those dudes in the furst ever filmed fight I could take. See the way those guys wound up and boxed just wild as hell😂
ОтветитьHello ,Has the film showcasing The Great Jack Johnson been loaded & is available ? If Not ,where would one find that ?
ОтветитьIs there a Legendary Champions for later years?
Ответитьjust an excuse to kiss some Black ass...sad...
ОтветитьJoyrider
ОтветитьGentleman Jim? More like Buttcheek Bob
ОтветитьJohnson toyed with these guys, it was a joke, but he was his own man.
ОтветитьGod Bless Henry Cooper
ОтветитьOscar Wilde was not an English writer!
ОтветитьI guess you were there to know if Jack was hit while he was blocking to sun from his face. He took a dive plan and simple.
ОтветитьPeople were so free of shame back them. Life seemed fun.
ОтветитьI got draw into to this one. Thank you for that experience!
ОтветитьWhat is the Intro song to this????
ОтветитьJOHNSON WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME IN ANY GENERATION!!! FACTS!
ОтветитьJack Johnson was the bravest man in the world.
ОтветитьDid every heavyweight champ of that era have a first name starting with the letter “J”
ОтветитьDempsey was allowed to fight
Like an animal in the ring .
The great Henry hammer 🔨⚒️ cooper
ОтветитьJack Johnson's story is a sad one.
ОтветитьIt's amazing that all those fighters and spectators are all dead yet we can enjoy watching them, even though at the time we weren't even born yet, our parents weren't even born yet
ОтветитьI've always loved the old time fighters, everybody said how jack Johnson was the best but I beg to differ because Sam Langford was the real champ. All the best champs n fighters dodged him like crazy outta strait up FEAR!!! Some coward crap. When Sam and Jack did box johnson was destroyed plus Sam was not a big guy. But since everybody in his weight class was scared to fight him he had to fight heavyweights
He was like 140 something pounds soaking wet with clothes on. He was also ranked the 2nd hardest hitter of all time!!. Jack Johnson can look good when you get to pick n choose your fights and dodge anyone who's gonna clean your clock
enter gene tunney
Ответитьgreat
ОтветитьHe threw that fight
ОтветитьCan you imagine Mike Tyson boxing one of these guys?! Talk about no contest.
Ответитьanyone else find it oddly specific that the narrator comments on the state of everyone's hair?
ОтветитьHola qué hace :v
ОтветитьI wonder if Sonny Liston looked up to Jack Johnson as a fighter, Liston didn't talk much, but I bet he did.
I suppose they both had their struggles with racism, and gaining the recognition they deserved. Either way, they were both incredible fighters in their time. RIP to both, I hope they can both look down and see how much they mean to boxing fans today.
Haha this is so funny but it's cool
ОтветитьGreat Job ibhof 2, I love it.I forgot about a lot of the early history, and this was a refreshingly good trip down memory lane. Thanks! Oh I have to say, those short shorts are more like a G string.ha ha
ОтветитьThe famous English writer , Oscar Wilde, was IRISH ! Get some basic facts right.
ОтветитьWow check out that buzz saw at 104:05. Talk about a lack of workplace safety ! That thing could lop off an arm like butter in a split second !
..
Before bareknuckle there was spiked knuckles. Boxers wore spiked straps around their fists. There used to be such fights in Stillwater, Minnesota back in the day. Long before film was commonplace.
..
This great movie has been severely edited—someone please put the uncut version on you tube please!!!
