This host always makes his guests kinda uneasy he reminds me of that smartass kid in highschool who you could never have a real conversation with because he was too busy being a smartass.

I feel the opposite. Ross keeps it fun and lighthearted. The only person I truly think was unnerved being on his show was Katherine Heigl. She was all jittery and nervous, especially towards the end. It's probably just her as a person. When I read "real conversation" I think you mean serious conversation about their careers and the business but to me, that's just boring. Well, not exactly boring but you're looking in the wrong place. Try "Inside the Actors Studio", hosted by James Lipton.

By real conversation I don't mean a serious conversation by any means. Watch Goldblum on the Conan show. They talk about real interests and funny quirks etc...and its freakin hilarious. Life is funny enough without having to resort to making fun of a guest making them uncomfortable or using crudeness randomly referencing "anal sex" in front of a female guest. Ross lacks imagination & class.
