Good morning, I'm tearing up.
I must have fallen asleep before I knew it.
The cake I had lined up on my computer desk was crushed on the floor.
The grease from the bag of chicken is soaking into the desk, and the cold fat has turned white and hardened.
My cheeks are twitching from lying on my desk when I fell asleep, probably from the bird fat.
The holojournal shows no increase in Pekora's frame.
I guess there haven't been any guerrillas since I fell asleep.
I'm going to go clean up the shortcake on the floor and throw it away.
I'm hungry, so maybe I'll just eat the chicken in the crockpot.
But I'm having a mixture of cool emotions that I'm not sure about, like, "That's not so disgusting, I should just throw it away.
Let's clean up quickly, take a shower, and look for another Christmas cake we can get our hands on now, I say to myself.
The cake I had Peco illustrate for me is smashed on the floor, but a cake from a convenience store or supermarket would be fine, right?
As long as I can blow out the candles while giggling and saying Merry Christmas with the chief, that's fine, right?

Every time the chief talked about Christmas in his delivery, I thought it would be a normal night, so I made my boss stamp a request for pay, saying I'd take the night off even if I had to.
I heard that his colleagues around him laughed at him behind his back, saying, "You don't have a girlfriend, do you? I would take the day off and order a cake in advance, knowing that my co-workers would laugh at me behind my back.
I put ornaments around my desk and decorated my desk-top tree with Chou's ackee and made Chou my desktop wallpaper so I could post it on Twitter later.
And then the "ninnin" (long ninnin) would ring, and the "Peco Rap" would play, and I'd think to myself, "What the heck is Peco and his friends doing on Christmas?
But I'm glad you opened Christmas for us, Peco! Fafa fafa!
She smiles at me, blowing away my worries and making me smile, even while acting a little uncomfortable.
I wanted to spend Christmas Eve with Pekora like that, even if it was only for an hour.

Context (this is repost of a comment I left last year, it should still be accurate though):

The whole thing began on Christmas 2021, where Pekora... didn't stream, that's it (She instead uploaded some 3 videos , you can check her channel for that), you see, since Japan doesn't the same christian (and familial) connection to christmas as seen in western countries, the holiday instead became associated with couples, a sort of alternate valentine's day. (You can see what SOME people took this as, but I also trust you to not take it and the people peddling it, seriously)


As for "Cold Chicken" specifically, well, in response to this, someone made a Copypasta which tells the story of a guy who was so eagerly waiting for Pekora's christmas stream that he bought some chicken to eat (In Japan, it's pretty normal to buy fast food for christmas instead of making a large home cooked meal), but Pekora never streamed, and thus the chicken was left cold.


I don't quite know the impact it had on Pekora's japanese audience but it probably wasn't much since she is still the largest Vtuber in Japan and one of the biggest streamers, period. (Like i'm pretty sure it was just a temporary increase in dislikes along with clips of her having at least one bitter japanese commentor mentioning it)


The concept for the christmas 2022 stream is pure gold, in it Pekora makes a reference to the copypasta by literally cooking a chicken, she even started the stream 10 minutes after the scheduled time (with an unrelated tweet on her sub-account a minute beforehand).

She's pretty much treating the whole thing as a joke... because it is. (at least to any one with half a brain cell)

If I remember correctly this is a reference to that stream Pekora made about cooking or was it eating a chicken on stream but she completely forgot to stream and her viewers make fun of her by saying that chicken got cold.
