ОтветитьBrings back memories back in '98 of doing simulations to match an actual diesel injector. We had imagery of flow inside an transparent injector, and had cool atomisation images. Also saw how cavitation led to better atomisation, up to a point.

ОтветитьI worked on marine diesel engines. When testing injectors,you could place a sheet of paper in front of the spray and it would pass through the paper without damaging it. Please be very careful when testing injectors. That same spray will pass through your skin and likely kill you.

ОтветитьIf you haven’t learned it yourself already, the injector names your looking for are pintle type which is the style with 4+ holes pointing perpendicular to the nozzle, this type is used in direct injected diesels. The other style is hole type with just single hole pointing straight out, this style is used in semi direct injected diesels.

ОтветитьThe actual application of a diesel injector in cylinder is even more complex. Because the fuel spray must penetrate(the correct distance into the cylinder) the very dense hot air before auto ignition and also must not overshoot it. An in cylinder view would be very telling for you once seen. However there is an awful lot of scientific papers published on fuel diffusion and penetration rates out there if youre interested in further reading

ОтветитьFuel evaporation point. Diesel can put out a fire. It's not a good idea but it can. The reason is there is a "Flashpoint" and a Fire point" when in contact with air. Neither can happen in a vacuum. But the odd thing is these point for fuel are not a set point. It depends on a lot of factors like humidity, altitude, surrounding temperature and surface contact. Example for contact, if you open a can of soda the contact is contained to the open area and only spits out of that location, but if you pour it on a table the whole thing spits because the bubbles rise to the surface, and then burst breaking the liquid's surface tension. Then if you toss that into the air, each droplet is surrounded.

ОтветитьYou really need to go into how different injectors work. Gasoline injectors run around 80-100 PSI and are simple solenoid valves. Old style Diesel injectors are around 3000 PSI and are much more complicated internally. Modern common rail Diesels run around 30,000 PSI and are on another level again.

The single hole injector is called a pintail injector. It's used in indirect injector systems. The injector with a number of holes is called a multi point injector. It is used in direct injection systems. Port injection systems are usually for petrol systems. Just found your channel. Keep up the good work.
