I prefer to travel alone to Thailand and have been there about 22 times, mostly to Pattaya, but also Bangkok and various parts of Issan. I have to agree with everything you said about badly behaved foreigners and the drugged up and insane people (not just reserved for foreigners and a few expats) I like to sit at open type bars during the day and people watch whilst having chats with anyone around. Have met some really good people but also the occasional 'Nut Job'. One thing I have noticed is that some of these people can only get away with behaving like they do in Thailand only as they would be sorted out back home, Thai's being more tolerant.

I ordered some takeaway Thai food from am outdoor restaurant near Nana... While I was waiting for it to be cooked, I saw a rat about the size of a cat... It made me so disgusted that I knew I wasn't going to eat the food...but couldn't just do a runner without paying for it with my gf there also... So I paid for it... Then got a taxi back to the hotel... I ended up giving it to some local Thai guy sitting outside Family Mart...
